Hey guys.

We are throwing a party overnext week, and my mate asks if i could do some laser fx. my idea was a RGB spiro. have LCC red and a 100mW (or 50?) green from Susie here, considering to order 445nm. it should be projected on the ceiling of an rather high stone monument where we do our "underground rave"

Is there a easy (µC less) , optical nice looking, way?
Thought about having on mirror rotating at fixed speed and variyng the other one by sound input. but how will it look?

Just place the two motors angled correctly, and make a circuit that change the speed of both of them from the "bass" levels from the audio (stereo outputs ?) ..... it must be not too bad .....

Or using 3 motors, one variable with a potentiometer, and the other 2 with the audio ?

Just take care to not have reflections to the public .....

Ok, but how to vary motor speed by audio?

And what about the lens-movers of sleds? i have lots of them

Naah, lens movers (focusing assemblies) from sleds are planned for very low weights, probably a mirror weight too much .....

About motor changing speeds, just use a variable voltage regulator for feed the motor, take the "bass level" from the stereo outputs with a circuit like the psycholight ones, and use it for drive the voltage regulator input ..... sorta of "analog modulation" .....

Can't do anything at the moment, i'm working ..... if tomorrow you don't have found a working circuit, i can try to invent something on-the-fly (but can't grant you anything, depend from the work)

i've got a schematic that isn't audio controlled but there can be set 15 "effects" (by turning the pots) and these pots are being multilexed and the signal is sent to H-bridge to control 2nd motor. the 1st motor has fixed speed but you can also build this controller for 1st motor.

(here's original article translated to english Google Translate) remember that google translate sux... ;)

if you want it sound controled, you could take sound controlled light schematic (like this 85.gif), take only the IC1A and IC1B part (input amp and bass filter) and us the signal from it as clock for the IC2A in the controller

omg. complex :) thanks

I thought about somethin like feeding Low, Mid, High into 3 opamps which goes to mosfets which goes to motor. so a 3 motor spyro. but have no clue how can i set gain "frames"

well... if you could use an µC this would be a LOT simpler (I mean like 1 microphone, 1 op-amp as microphone amp, µC with 3 channel PWM, 6 transistors, 3 relays and some resistors)

But i will need an ATMega or are the Tiny's powerfull enought to real time analyse sound?

If i had an Progger, i could use an µC, of course...

I mean like use the IC1A and B part of this schematic 85.gif to create pulses depending on bass intensity and use these pulses as kind of "modulation" - the uC would count them and after like 25 (or random count) pulses it would switch to another pattern/beam colour/blanking speed
