:crackup::crackup::crackup: SC DAC hell

Fair enough, at 120$ the software really isn't worth it, but for 60-20$ it's well worth the money.

Garry sold it to me for $89 so it was still pretty pricy I think it would have been more reasonable at the $50 price point... But whatever it's his software.. Just bugs me a little that he just dropped it like a hot potato on a whim...

He was really great when I asked him for help and I could understand him not wanting to deal with that all the time... I am not sure what his exact reason is for dropping the product but I am sure there are other much better options he could go with.

This is very sad. This was afaik the only really usable software for a DAC solution. LFI is just bad. I can only get it to play 1 frame at a time and whats the point in that. I was about to buy spaghetti but that wont happen apparently. At least make it open source else a really nice and usable piece of software will just die.

I am myself working as a software engineer and know the hazzle of customer support, but what you did here is just madness.

So since Spaghettis owner is quitting, does anyone know a piece of showsoftware that supports the DAC solution in the hobbyist pricerange?

Best regards

LSX its from the The good doctor.
And let me say i have seen what it can do.
I think given a bit more time and a bit more user friendly it will rival Pangolin.
LaserShow Xpress Laser Show Software
its around 130$ but you also get ild sos the frame optimizer.
if you bought ildsos you can get 30$ off LSX according to the DR.

* Full-featured frame creation and frame animation tools (plus ILD SOS included)
* Timeline-based organization with 130 tracks per timeline controller for frames and effects
* Real-time frame recolorization with unlimited colorization algorithms
* Live touchscreen control panel for live shows with (Basic+) MIDI parameter control
* DMX (EasyLase) and TTL (RIYA) control
* Built-in frame editor for fast frame creation and editing
* Supports most popular Laser DAC controllers: RIYA, EasyLase, Netlase, EzAudDac, Moncha, Fiesta, Lumax, Mamba, QM32, QM2000( in testing )
* Show export controls with encryption and detailed access privilege settings (Basic,Pro)
* Full copy and paste capability across shows and timelines
* Module, Script, and true-color ILDA export for sharing and flexibility
* Sophisticated mathematical animation and frame creation capability
* Over 125 fixes and upgrades from LDS

I think LSX is the one for me. To bad I cant afford it at the moment, it is a hobby for me and the cost is almost 200USD with dongle and international shipping :-(

Oh well I have to wait a bit before I can get it, but it seems like the only really good alternative to Spaghetti and LFI. Did anyone try to use HE-Laserscan with the Soundcard DAC solution?

Speaking of open source laser software, isnt LFI open source?
if so maybe its time some people got serious about giving it more features.

LFI is open source, but the project seems to be abandoned (last update over 2 years ago).

Spaghetti will not be given away as freeware or as open source code. But I will consider selling all rights for $15K.

I really don't think anyone is going to pay $15K for the rights..
Could you at least tell us why your not selling it anymore... It doesn't seem very clear... I also don't understand what you have to gain by keeping it locked up...

In any case you should change your sig to "Graveyard of Spaghetti"

It's been a long time since I posted here, and the reason I stopped most of my participation in the online laser community altogether is because of ridiculous crap like this. Gary robbed me out of my hard-earned money when he decided to void all of my Spaghetti licenses because he didn't like my opinion. Anyone who has followed my existence in this community knows that I freely speak my mind in accordance with my 1st amendment right, and I have never cared at all if ANYONE shares even one of my opinions. They are opinions, nothing more. We all fall victim to emotion from time to time, some more than others, but disagreeing with someone over something they say on a web forum is not a reason to take a real-world item from a person that they bought with their hard-earned money without compensation for the expense. IMO that's stealing plain and simple. My money was given for a product, and then the product I bought was taken from me. One of my biggest problems with much of the internet-based laser community is that some of the participants have no concept of the idea that there is a distinct separation between words on a computer screen (no matter how offensive you think they are) and real-world personal exchanges, relationships and transactions.

If Gary quits selling Spaghetti and leaves people hung out to dry, sadly it is no surprise. You want my advice? Learn LFI player and HE Laserscan or save up for Quickshow. Then you don't risk dealing with someone who might have questionable ethics and/or possibly very little regard for the community. Plus if you have an opportunity to experience Pangolin you'll wonder why you wasted your time with anything else. I haven't even thought about Spaghetti since I started using Quickshow.

I honestly never expect any of this from Garry.. my dealings with him were quick and helpful and he was very nice to me.. I was looking at his posts on PL and seeing this I am surprised by his character... Makes me wish I kept my refund and got LSX instead...

I have been using HE-Laserscan and it took the same tweeking to my SC DAC that spaghetti took to get it to work. And its years ahead of spaghetti. It does everything spaghetti does but more. This is my primary laser software till my QS comes. It takes a little while to learn the interface but once you do. Its pretty easy to use.

I was not granted a demo copy of LSX, probably because I like to speak my mind also and have issues with the seller who once used to care about customer service. So I cannot give an opinion on the software. It seems years ahead of spaghetti for not much more but appears to be geared at more professional users. I can only go by the couple testimonials online and the few screen shots on the website. Other then that it seems like a big work in progress. Im glad I didn't jump the gun and buy LSX because it's affordable.

Even though I know i cant test the lase output of QS with the demo, I am confident it will work because I know the company had a great track record of customer service, and it comes paired with a dac that they also provide and support. $500 for less headaches, the best software with turn key performance makes this high dollar bundle(for hobbiest) an easy sale.

I gotta try HE seriously sometime... I still have it installed... Just gotta figure out how to use it...

If I had $500 lying around I'd buy a better projector... then if I had another $500 lying around I'd buy QS :p

Do you know that the code on the machine can be changed right?
But thats a whole different topic there.
That will not be talked about openly.

Well, I am a bit tired of nonsense so I am retiring Spaghetti. It will no longer be sold or supported.

I guess Gary got pissed because someone suggested a "hack" to change the GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) on their computer to run Spaghetti using someone else's license without paying for it. I am sure he had other reasons as well, he must get a ton of support requests from people needing help to install it. I know that when first got my copy it would not run properly and he was kind enough to help me out...

I asked him if I could get a temp license so I could do some work on my work PC and he said he couldn't make a temp license so I don't imagine he can turn your license off unless you upgrade to a new version...

I was responding to EF response where he said Gary voided his licenses. How did he do this?

edit.. my spaghetti license seems fine. at least the program still loads.

He voided my future licenses is more accurate, apologies for being vague. When you buy spaghetti you also are entitled to updates. Voiding licenses means no updates ever. If there was a way for Gary to void my old licenses also, he would have, but it's not possible. Basically it boiled down to Gary declaring that I was no longer a licensed user even though I paid for the same licenses as everybody else.

Yea that sucks... Fortunately there aren't going to be anymore updates :p
