After you install Spaghetti, it generates a key which uniquely identifies your computer and hardware setup. You then send this code to Mr. Carmangary (Spaghetti's author) and he generates and sends back an unlock code. Where in the EULA does it say that it is not transferable?

You COULD easily transfer the license but I completely understand if you want to move on. Mine was working fine in the beginning and I purchased two licenses (my main PC and my laptop). Then when an update came out it would not render properly on my laptop which I use for doing shows. Thanks for all your effort and time, it was good while it lasted. I am a software developer as well and I understand the amount of effort it takes to write something like this...

Okay, so what happens if someones computer crashes and they need to register again? There is no way for you to tell the difference and I guess they are out of luck, right?

So then you are stopping selling and no longer developing but are going to support existing customers?

If that is so and you no longer plan to make money off it, you could further the work by opening it up to another member to further it.
Or like Benm said go open source and allow it to still be developed.
Speaking of open source laser software, isnt LFI open source?
if so maybe its time some people got serious about giving it more features.

How did you get burned? Spaghetti is great. The difference between 20$ spaghetti and 600$ Pangolin is huge.

If you didn't do enough research to understand what you were buying, that's your fault. Spaghetti has a demo too, why didn't you try both demo's at the same time to see what is best for you?

maybe the thought was it is limited to one machine at a time to prevent one person from buying and giving it away to everyone.
Not limited to the one person.
If it was to the person they should be able to put it on as many machines they own.
But its to 1 machine does that mean it can be transferred to another machine a s long as the original machine has the software removed..
What if a person sells the laptop with the software on it with the projector is that "BREAKING THE RULES?" sometime software is made to be weird and the rules of how it can be moved around are sometimes a bit weird.

I paid $119 for my first Spaghetti license and another $50 so I could also run it on my laptop. Yes, the QuickShow software is a bit more but it comes WITH the controller and can run on any computer you plug the controller into. There is no comparison when it comes to the features between the two. Pangolin invested many thousands of man hours developing the software but Spaghetti does have it's place among the hobbyist community. Sorry to see it will no longer be developed...

Spaghetti wasn't $20 (It was on sale for a month or something) It's normally $120 though... But still a far cry from $600 though the $600 includes hardware and some pretty amazing software...

I wouldn't call Spaghetti perfect but it's pretty good for the price...

The license is locked to the machine / hardware config... I hope Gary will support his existing customer base and if we need to move a license due to hardware failure or whatever...

The demo is good but it doesn't let you see if everything is working with your setup because you can't output anything at all...

The QS demo doesn't let you output either. Spaghetti is great for starters, i'm glad I got it, I would never start off with 600$ software.

But Spaghetti supports a pile of different hardware all of which may or may not be working including the worst of all the Sound Card DAC.. Having made it through SC DAC hell I can understand Garry's displeasure helping deal with them..

You know if you buy QS it will work all the way up to the projector and you know you have the vendors full support for their product. (Not that Garry didn't try to help out)

Maybe Gary would be better off making the S/W work with a Ryia light or whatever and tying it to the serial of that device that way people can move it from PC to PC and they will always have a working interface or whatever...


In any case as a commercial software vendor you are expected to provide support for your software... Particularly when your software isn't a trivial cost (nearly $100 or more depending on his mood).


EDIT: also glad I got it before he stopped selling it... It is a good software for hobbyists but I think it's a bit expensive for the playing around market for the most part... It's sad that people will likely no longer make shows for it really hurt his paying customer base for no good reason...

EDIT 2: If your not going to sell it anymore, make it free at least then MORE people will develop shows for it so we all can benefit from it.. You aren't gaining anything by keeping it locked up and not giving it to people who want to pay for it.

Fair enough, at 120$ the software really isn't worth it, but for 60-20$ it's well worth the money.
