PT-30K scanner problem

Hello everyone, my name is Jasper Vis, I'm from Holland. And I'm 21 years old. My number one hobby is tinkering with lasers (laserpointers and scanners)

My laserprojector has the following parts:

Cmedia CM106 soundcard
DrLava's Correction amp
PT30k galvos
~80mW green laser
~140mW blue 445nm laser
~160mW 637nm laser
Diy aluminium casing

My problem

When I bought the PT30K scanset they were poorly tuned.
I tried to retune them from zero with the help of Adam Burns tuning tutorial but now I can't even get them to display the ilda pattern at 30k at 8 degrees.
I'll add a few pictures so you guys can have a look at what's going wrong here. In the pictures the ilda pattern was scanned at 8 degrees.
Probably something with gain and damping.

I hope someone can help me out. It's starting to get a little frustrating because I can't get them to to what I want them to.

Kind regards,
Jasper Vis

Are you sure you read the tuning tutorial? Because the tutorial will tell you to match the size of the circle with the square by adjusting the scan speed. That's pretty much step one.

Hello Cyperagon,

Thanks for your quick reply.

If I adjust the scan speed I'll end up with 14kpps (still at 8 degrees), that's way below some other results i've seen on other PT30K scanners. I have seen a post where he could get 25-27kpps at probably 20 degrees and still project the ilda pattern pretty good.

See this post at PL:
Scan set AL-30K and PT-30, difference?

I also have another problem if I increase the scan angle, the circle gets larger but it will always be the same percentage of the middle square. What I'm trying to say is that the circle will equally increase in size in comparison to the middle square. Whats stated in the guide doesn't happen to me.

(Now slowly increase the scan angle setting in your software and watch the center circle in the test pattern. Don’t worry if it’s not a perfect circle, just watch it as it gets larger.Eventually you’ll reach a point where increasing the scan angle setting does not make the circle any larger.)

Do you know what's going on here? Has it something to do with the gain setting on my scanner amps?

Kind regards,
Jasper

If you want to tune your scanners, follow the tutorial. Don't skip important steps like this. You can see if scan speed can be increased later.

I have got it up to 30kpps and it shows the ilda pattern pretty good.
Galvo amps were way off. I can play shows without the galvo's making a terrible noise as they were doing at the beginning. Thanks for your support.

Edit: I've used a different soundcard driver and now it's projecting the ilda pattern even better (the way it should look) The corners are 90 degrees with a sharp point.
If I revert back to the old driver the image looks rubbish again. I'm currently using this driver: C-media 6.12.8.2131.
