Default Painting with green laser pointer?

I saw some pictures on the internet where people painted a text with a green laser pointer. How do I do that?
Here's an example:

Wink Re: Painting with green laser pointer?

very long aperture time at close diaphragm, in a completely dark room, and a good memory for remember the letters you have already tracked

The close diaphragm helps you in catching the dot track on the wall without too much halo, and doing this in a dark room, you can keep the shutter opened enough time for "write" with the spot all the text ..... you probably need some trials, for obtain a decent result, but it's a funny photo experiment

Thank you. I'm a Dutch person and I don't know all the words you are saying. I'm sorry.
How do I set my camera to a very long aperture time and at close diaphragm?
Can I do this with a Canon Powershot A95?

most probably. on my Canon IXUS 200 you go into the program mode and select long shutter in the record mode, maybe is the same on yours?

I don't know, i'm sorry, cause i don't have a canon.

If your camera have a shutter position marked "B" or "OPEN" (probably are available in the "manual" mode only), then you probably can do it (need to check on your user manual) ..... and about the diaphragm, it's dependingg from your objective ..... it's the "f" value, (or "stop" value, in some countries) ..... more the value is low (2, 3.5, 5.6 .....), more the diaphragm is opened, more the value is high (16, 22, 32), more it's closed.

You probably need to made some experiments, before to find good values, but, if your machine have a manual mode "B" position for keep the shutter opened, you can try start experimenting with diaphragm on f22 or f32.

Anyway, remember that, for these experiments, you need a stand (tripod), very stable, and preferably a remote control (wired or wireless don't care), for the shoot button, cause any movement or vibration of the camera will ruin your image.

EDIT: sorry, i just found some technical specification for the A95 camera, and no, it's not a type of camera that you can use for this type of images, sorry ..... you need a semi-professional camera, at least, "reflex-type" model and with "manual" modality, and the A95 one don't have it ..... sorry for have to say that .....

No problem, thank you guys for your help.
Otherwise it was too difficult for me to do, I'm not so good in things like that.
Thanks!

I don't got another camera than my A95 Canon.
But I was just wondering if I could do anything like that painting. The answer is no. :P

Anyone can do this, you camera has LONG EXPOSURE. Usually .5 sec, 1sec, 2sec, 10sec, 30sec, 1min, etc...

It leaves the shutter open for that time period. When you move the laser dot, it will look like a line.

That's all.

Make sure apeture (or f-stop) is a high number, like f5.6, or f8, or f11. Higher is better.
