Can you send the CNI back for repair, or open it up and try to repair it yourself?

The guy I bought it off has promptly replyed to my messages and appears to be making an honest attempt to make it right, I figured I would give him a week or so to sort it out before I do anything myself, do you have any idear if cni's repair costs are reasonable? The module has done less than 5 min work shurely something can be done with it

Lovely project +1 :)

Regarding your mirrormounts try and have a look at the ones in my sig. They are very sturdy and adjustable on 3 angles with springs to keep it in place. If you have to make minor adjustments along the way then this is easy achieved.

Post more pictures as the project comes a long :)

Best Regards

You have some fantastic pictures, I hope you don't mind if I steal some of your idears!
I'm learning heaps and spending Heaps haha
But I must admit I'm keen to do as much of the fabricating myself I have always learnt best by having a crack!
Cheers

Took you up on that offer :)
had another play today, rebuilt the duel 445, improved the mirror mounts (they still need some work) the toe is too short but they are getting better.
and I will make a cover for it when I get some sheet aluminium tomorrow.
fired it up got a very visible beam in full light with no smoke I NEED MORE GALVOS
haha Im starting to see the money pit

the beam could do with a bit of correction it was a 20mm + shape at 15m
I have read prisim pairs are the go there, Thoughts?

cheers

wow that 445 is stupid bright - 12 posts and your already further along with your laser than I am. Impressed is an understatement. Nice work :)

I really need to pull my finger out and finish off my projector. Lasers can be had cheaply now, so I have no excuse; except the power bill which I must pay first :p

I have all the doings except lasers. I also *MAY* need better power supplies for my DT40W's. I might bite the bullet in a week or two after settling the power account and grab a 1 W greenie to start off with.

James, you can add a .5 waveplate to remove the + shape, that will help greatly with the size. You can't use prisms if it's in a + shape anyway.

Yep, when I start things I tend to get a little obsessed :D
I would love a set of wides, I have a wedding to sort maybe if that doesn't kill the bank too much they will be on the cards :eg:
I'm a big fan of DTR's diodes The M140's are nuts and the mitzi 500mw's arrived a couple of days ago and I had a play last night I'm still waiting on all of my corrective optics and flexmounts but I managed to knife edge the two reds and get some ok color mixing, I'm still using an old 100mw green cheapie so until my new analog one arrives im not really willing to mount anything permanently onto the base plate so its lots of F*%King around to get everything even close to aligned, its hilarious the random items I have used as shims and packers, but its enough of a taste to keep me super keen

I have prism pairs and new lenses on the way I really cant wait to have it all here

I also ordered the bits off the DAC thread to get that started

I had a play in the shed with basic tools to make my own flexmounts they would need MUCH MUCH more work but I think it can be done, I actually used a normal 1/2 inch plunge router with a tungsten carbide tip I really just wanted to see if it would cut aluminium

Theres a few more pics

Yes they are stupidly addictive. Sadly I dont have any saftey glasses at the moment (I made a pointer for a good friend of mine whom I can trust to be safe and not silly with lasers) and gave him my glasses. I'll get some more soon tho, then I'll finish building my projector.

I have a working 445 sitting in my bits drawer, but until I have saftey goggles for it, theres no way in hell I am powering it up :p

I gave my little green pointer in my sig to another friend to tease his cat with. So I guess I'm a legit laser user now; only having modules, or at a pinch, a module that can run off a 12v SLA - its in no way pocket sized, and the 12v sla is a tad heavy :)
