You cant go wrong with the speaker tripods - they're designed to carry heavy speakers. Once you have a base plate and your projector on there (by base plate I mean 6-20mm thick steel, not a pie tin), its not going anywhere.
If it does, the last thing you'll be worried about is eyes or projector damage. Its going to create far more carnage coming down (smashing through the other lights, as you had it well above peoples heads right?), and creating a mains and laser hazard on the floor when it smashes open in front of Mr and Mrs Jon Doe who happened to be tone deaf and slow danced in time to your dub step
Those speaker tripods really have a WIDE stance and are tricky to tip over though. Go get one
