Hi Guys,

I picked up an old laser bed this morning. It was a bit bashed up and very dirty but after a quick clean it looks okay.
I only picked up the bed and left the 5W green laser there as I have no use for it. Photos of how it looked including the laser are in this thread:-

Anyway after cleaning all the dirt off this is what it looks like. Not sure what I am going to do with it but i's not bad for free ;D ;D

Note: All the bits are not put back in the original position :D

xgeek - I have that EXACT laser plate ! Two of them, as a mtter of fact !!! They are very handy, although mine did NOT come with all the goodies like yours did !! If you find that you will not uise some of those posts and stands, let me know, I am positive we can work out some sort of trade !!

Hehee SenKat I am not sure what most of it does other then the mirrors  :D

Okay The first piece of the base I need help on is the galvos. There 2 galvos made by General Scanning Inc. The model is G120D and one has a small 6mm x 6mm mirror and the other has a mirror that is around 6mm x 12mm. I have no drivers board so not sure if I can get them going. There are 2 separate multi-core cable coming out with 10 cables connected to a DB-15 male plug. Does anyone know this type of galvo?

Also does anyone know if galvos have standard wiring connections?

Cheers

Okay the next piece of the puzzle is this gadget. It is a large cube about 5" x 5" x 5". It has a top block that has wires that connect to 4 brass studs that come out the block. Those studs make contact with 2 brass vertical pins. In the bottom of the 2 vertical pins are very tiny mirrors (I mean very tiny). It looks like the vertical pins slide up and down and rotate. There is also a 110V power input to the bottom of the unit. I think this is a magnet? Although I am not sure.

Has anyone seen one of those or know what it is for?

Cheers

Very nice! If you're not using all that stuff on the table I'd definitely be interested in buying it off you. I have a breadboard too, but sadly its quite bare at the moment (I actually cleaned it off SenKat! Well... kinda. Now there's only a single layer of junk on it instead of the previous pile). I'm not sure what most of that stuff is, and probably couldn't tell from just pictures, but if you'd be interested, send me a PM on how much you'd want to ship me all that stuff (minus the table) sight-unseen and as-is. Thanks.

I am going to keep hold of it for the time-being and just have a play and see what I can do.

Some more pictures with the top on:

A bit of good news. I emailed the company that made that galvo and they sent me this.
The wire colours match mine as does the pin configuration on the DB-15. Now I need to find a suitable driver board.
