this is an abstract laser show i've made for upcoming SELEM.

music:
We Are Shangri-La (Emerald City Mix)
from Ember Days Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (digital release),
Vocals, programming, mixing & production by S. J. Tucker
Additional guitar by Tony Fabris

please support independent artists and musicians.

this was programmed in LSX (Laser Show Express) and output through an ether-dream DAC into my home made 3w rgb projector.

as always, questions and comments are always appreciated.

thanks!

thanks! it was a really fun show to do. ;) i sent the link to sj tucker (the musician) and she accused me of having a "big bad brain". that was fully awesome. things like that make the time i spend doing these shows really worthwhile.

i have an FB/QS and i have LSX/Etherdream... i'm trying to remember the last time i plugged my fb3 in. i'm not knocking QS. it's quick, it's easy to use, it's stable, and it's good for live shows. it just doesn't meet my needs. i would not be able to make the shows that i want with it.

i don't know about the riya dac, but if you buy an etherdream (like i use), you can trigger shows from it via OSC commands (Open Sound Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) . there may be midi<->osc convertors, but i haven't looked into it. i know that j4cbo (the etherdream creator) wrote an osc interface for the ipad and you can trigger shows, scan rates, and geometry correction from it.

Wow!

That's outstanding. Now I'm inspired:gj:

Being a certified newbie, I just started researching laser projector software.

I'm between FB3/QS or LSX/RIYA Multibus.

I want to run projector via midi output through my DAW (Sonar8.5)
Do you have any suggestions or know someone who is doing something similar?

Also can shows be triggered via midi stored in the SD card (RIYA Multibus) independent of LSX.

Sorry for all the questions. I just don't want to buy something I can't use.

Thanks,
Zip

I want to see pictures of this 3W unit you built.

Edit: Just watch your "Foil Abstract Laser Show"
It looked like what I would imagine the structure of atoms would like like in color for a lot of it. Very cool!

HAHA That is by far the sexiest thing I have ever seen. Just by looking at it I can tell its well outside what my wife lets me spend on lasers and even more so beyond my skill level.

I'm impressed.

it wasn't cheap. on the other hand, it's still going strong after two years and a *lot* of hours.

and you can't argue with the output quality.

Id have to sell all my laser gear to afford something like that.

OK that's it I have seen enough, I'm leaving here this Friday and I'm driving to your place and I'm camping in your back yard until you show me every thing you know about this :na:

Good job man, I wish I was 1/10 the way you are in making up laser shows.

We'll see you at SELEM :D
