hey guys,
holiday time means projector time!

this should hopefully be finished by end of holidays, i have the DAC all i need is the lasers and the DB25 breakout board to arrive

safety wiring the mains was the scariest thing i have done...but it was a good feeling to see the little green LED in the PSU light up when i turned it on :)

EDIT: gota re-size pics :(

yeah their is heaps of room, its in the same case that things uses, and the DAC has its own box and is situated outside the projector :)

Nice work there tterbo

I'm slowly saving for a FB3 and Quickshow then I will start work on my projector.

I've been having fun with my poseidon projector but that will now become my home play projector.

And yes I agree, nothings scarier than wiring up the mains. But it looks like you have done a nice job, heatshrink and all. Congrats.

hey TT, out of curiosity, where did you get your aluminium base plate from? THOR is going to need a rather large one, with 5 lasers, so hopefully you got it cheap :)

This is my scanner, in the same case as TTerbo is using. They are very beefy cases, I love them :)

It's very snuggly :) All the lasers but the laser-wave red in there will be replaced with a 400mW laser-wave green and a 1W laser-wave 445 laser soon, gonna be tricky fitting all the lasers in there!

Nice work TTerbo :)

Cheers,
Dan

*listens to his "scanner" blurt out "Lima 17 with a bonafide..."

been drummed into me Things, a scanner is a gadget that you listen to the police on. A projector is something you do the following with:

1. Make sure its the C brand 140 or 150 model
2. Rip out all the diodes
3. Sell them on LPF (after keeping a couple for yourself) ;)

Seriously tho, what box is that, is that a jaycar box?

jaycar 2U rack mount case cost me $100, things got it when it was like $70-80.
To get the handles on this thing was the biggest PITA so far in this projector build
the baseplate cost me $0

Actually I am saving for the 6u - the one with the closable glass door, slide out top deck. Will make a very nice projector. 2u bottom will be the slide out drawer to put the laptop in, out of the way, along with the FB3, middle drawer will be the power supplies and amps, and top drawer will be the optics table.

All remoted via Logmein for control via the ipad :D

Interesting debate about whether it's a scanner or projector. It's both I guess. It scans the laser, which projects the image :D

I got a nice discount on my rack mount base because I almost live in my Jaycar store :D
