if your seriously interested in buying it please PM me as it will be going up for sale soon.
no, I'm not, I asked if you GENERALLY raise money by building and selling (custom made) scanners
btw I wish I could do this once...

So, am I right in thinking this would be cheaper than RGB? Because I'd love an RGB scanner at some point in the not so near future, however the price for making 1W plus is really scary. If I could use Blu-Ray diodes instead of 473nm (100mW 473nm is managable, >200mW is far too expensive) and still get pure white, this seems the right direction to take...

^Nope, you would be incorrect in that assumption since this particular projector contains both 473nm and 405nm.

You can build an RGV, which would be cheaper.

correct ;)

something i have discovered, 405 is so bloody dark.

ive seen 80mw in a scanner and now 400mw in my scanner. even 400mw of 405 is bloody dark and on its own not very effective. but it does add to the colours and when mixed makes some fantastic colours.

subject to the use of the projector you have in mind, 405 would be fine for home use, but pointless for doing any kind of event.

How does 400mw 405 look with a tad of green added? Seems like it would brighten it up and make it a little more blue. But, I have not tried it so I don't know. Have you tried it? If it works I will add a setting to Spaghetti that allows doing this.

405 with a small amount of green looks great.

405 with any other colour added looks great, but 405 on its own looks poo

Here would be a test for somone. Compare a 50mw 473nm beam with a 400mw 405nm beam for brightness. Then add some 532nm green to the 405nm beam until the apparent brightness is similar to the 50mw 473nm. At that power, how much green is needed? And what color is the 405/532 mix? (ie, does it look greenish, purplish, blueish, etc).

Ah, yeah, I didn't phrase that correctly. Would this be cheaper than buying enough 473nm to make >1W? As in, could I compensate some of the price tag of 473nm by doing a build like this and would it be worth it? 473nm costs a bomb and getting enough to make a >1W RGB scanner takes up half of the price alone.

405 is by no means a subsitute for 473.

yes its alot cheaper and works fine in a scanner but dont be under the impression its a like for like trade for a 473
