A few months ago I built a laser projector with help from someone on another forum, without him I would not have been able to make it. Anyways my whole intention of building it was to have it sync to music.

To explain what my laser projector actually is, I has 2 galvos, power supply, amp (I think that's what it is) I am using a 100mW 532nm lab style laser for this. I then plug it into my computer and then use software to control it. The only laser software I have is ishow which is pretty bad. I can't do what my main intention which was to sync it to music. Anybody have any suggestions of what I can do to make my setup better?

First thing i'd probably do is ditch the iShow software. You're gonna need to put aside $400-500 for either LSX + a DAC, or Pangolin Quickshow, both of which will do what you want. Your system will be a lot more capable with a better DAC.

There is a DIY soundcard DAC route and LaserBoy is free, but that will be a good bit more of a hands-on option. Judging by your description above, it sounds like the QS/FB3 would be perhaps the easiest path moving forward as Things has recommended.

FB3/QS has pretty limited sync to music functionality.

LSX, or Beyond (if you have a big budget) may be better.

I hope its understandable but there is no way I can afford $400-$500 to put into a laser project. I realize that would probably be my best option but I just cant afford that. Now is this other route I can go a decent one?

LSX Intro and a riya dac is roughly half the cost of FB3/Quickshow.

Yeah LSX looks really awesome. Very powerful. You should check out what swamidog has done with it for creative abstracts.

yes. i really made that show, and all the other shows on my youtube channel.

well, i didn't film the hoop dancer, and i didn't create the music, but i did everything else, including build the projector.

That's really awesome. I only have 1 532nm laser for my projector so it wouldn't look nearly as cool. By the way did you actually make that show yourself?

I don't know where you are, but SELEM had lots of swamidog's shows running.

You would have been amazed.

Amazing work! Do you know which company is making LSX? Also what scanner did you use for the show? Do you have a description showing how you did this?

LSX is written by another laser hobbyist - drlava. He's not active on LPF anymore, moreso on PL.
