Just finished a spirograph this weekend. It has reversible motors
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TDTlyhr3HU

I am using two small DC motors and found a sweet way to drive them. I am using a 10K pot with the wiper tied to the base of small transistor 2N3904, used as an emitter follower. It is rated at 200ma and the motor draws about 100. Doesn't even get warm. I noticed most people don't have the ability to reverse the motors. This is crucial to get to a second type of spirograph. It also lets you have a circle that varies in size. I plan on perfecting this a little bit and adding a third motor. Brought me and the wife right back to the summer of 79 at the Laserium listening to Pink Floyd! Yikes.

The mirrors are "Hobby Lobby" specials a bag of them for $3.00 then remove the paint form the front surface with acetone. Similar to the method for the acrylic mirrors. I think I need to get a dichro and order some "real" front surface mirrors form Edmund Optics... Oh yea, a fog machine too...

The Video is a little long, but I was having so much fun! THe 803T UV stuff is at the end.

Enjoy
