over the last couple of weeks i've been building a 60W laser cutter. it's not complete, but it's up and running and i thought a suitable first project would be using the laser cutter to make a laser projector.

i designed a 5x5" box in inkscape and cut it out of 3.2mm masonite.

i laser cut acrylic for the mounts and the lumia wheel.

i used clear silicon sealant to add texture to the lumia wheels. the lasers are single mode 450 and 520 diodes and drivers from DTR's shop.

in the dark, lumia reflections off the wheel project out of the cut outs on the side panels.

the projected lumia is very beautiful.

Sweet project! I love this stuff... I've been hooked ever since hakzaw1 got me a low RPM motor with mounted lumia glass.

Very nice build you have done Chris an over the top job I would say they are beautiful +5 my man :gj:

Is there any way I could pay to make me 3 boxes so I could make a RGB set,
You can ship them flat and I'll make em boxes, how much for a set of three please.
I would like the acrylic wheels also if that is a go.

i do plan to offer kits with everything except the laser.

i'm doing a little redesign work based on the lessons learned from making those two.
 
the granite glass makes a very nice effect.. i need to bug displacer and see if he's still cutting and selling wheels.

i'm in the mode of sourcing parts to try to keep cost down.

the resolution of my laser cutter is quite high so i can do much more detailed artwork on the panels.

Damn Dude, those panels are drop dead cool. I would be up for a kit or two when you are ready to offer them for sale. Love the dragon!!!! Moon and stars motif is very cool too.
