Hope this x64 driver works though sputnik - how did you go with the mcu data I gave you for the showcards?

Those pins are not the ISP pins.

It uses pins 10, 11 (the standard UART pins) for ISP as seen in THIS datasheet on page 11. It in Chinese, but I can make out what is going on. This datasheet will apply to the MEGAWIN chip as well.

It does automatically go in to program mode with commands sent from the ISP application, so no hardware mods should be necessary.

I am going to hook it up and see what happens as soon as I get back from the eye doctor. If all works out, I am going to write a tutorial and get it stickied in the main Laser Show forum.

I hope it works out, that way we can get rid of those horrid built in patterns.

Same here - then I WILL be tempted to install the itrust card into my laser - can you imagine alignment and ILDA test patterns at call from a simple DMX LCD on the back - no need to hook up a pc to align the rig And for that purpose, TTL will be good enough, your only aligning, not doing a show with a couple of circles, squares, and lasermedia and ilda test patterns

OK, that didnt work. It appears the ISP code is not running on the chip as I cannot get anything from the UART to show in my terminal when the MCU boots. According to the datasheet It should spit out some stuff when it enters ISP mode at boot up, but it doesnt.

All is not lost yet. I may build up a non ISP programmer and see if I can read the firmware from the chip. If so, we can load the ISP routines, then load the original firmware and see how we get along with that.

Or, say the hell with it, and write our own firmware.

I need to get another show card to play with so I dont destroy the ones I have.


EDIT: Also, I just got confirmation from Xinyu that is indeed what PatternISP is for (duh), but I thought I would ask them anyway. Here is her response

The program of PatternISP.exe is used to download show program to the laser for old version.

But not many customer use it, so we cancel the function, it just a sign on the dick now.


I also have enclosed our new developed lasers and best selling lasers, hope you won't mind.

Whatever "sign on the dick" means is anybody's guess.

I'll post this one to you - I have no need for it (going to put the iTrust into the laser I'm building for a friend, and not going to bother with dmx on my big projector.

I think they mean by "sign on the dick" as "program on the disk with no purpose".

(i.e. we cant be stuffed remastering the CD's to exclude it)

I get the feeling I won't be using iShow for very long. What is the typical progress path for laser enthusiasts?

I bought have several pointers, from 5mw - 100mw in Red, Green and Purple. I bought a Red & Green, 4 head, 2 color, DMX controllable laser from eBay for $150. Now I recently added a 500mw RGY IDLA with iShow. What typically happens next?

Well, you already have the laser bug, so its whatever tickles your fancy!!


As far as iShow, the next step is expensive >>>> Pangolin QuickShow @ $600

However, if and when we get a driver working under Win7 x64, we hopefully will not need Pangolin, as the iShow DAC is good, we just need good software to run it, and a driver is the key to beginning development on decent software.

I would suggest getting a pass red/green reflect blue dichro and adding 445nm to that RGY, making it a true RGB

And theres already half decent software out for the ishow - that pasta branded one - it apparently does a great job (better than the ishow program) with an ishow dac.

So apparently since I have win 7 home premium I can't do the Windows xp thing. Or I'm jus doing it wrong. Lol. Anywho I think ill try to patiently wait for Sputnik s driver

yeah sadly - windows 7 professional and up are the only ones that have XP mode.

However you can use vmware workstation to install a windows XP environment. Theres a 30 day evaluation from memory.

Hmm may try the wifes netbook to see if I can get it to recognize. It is Windows 7 starter with 32bit. I'm off to hook up a cd drive up to it to install ishow then if it works prolly trying to contact pasta n see if I can get another license. The computer has 1.66ghz Intel atom processor with 1 gig of ram I won't be running any huge production but maybe just maybe I can get it to work. However Sputnik I'm still interested in a 64bit driver as it will make it soooo much easier. So definately keep me updated on that!! Thanks man!!

Shouldnt need to "apply" for another license. You got one when you paid for the program, which is now yours. It should work on any hardware you choose, just only one hardware at a time. Software that ties itself to the computer is like having your drivers license tied to your first car. Once you change to a new car, you have to do the learners and driving test period all over again. FAIL. I know the author needs to be paid for his hard work, but drop the computer tie in. I hate to say it, but no wonder the program was cracked.

IT'd suck if I bought a book and took it home, read it, moved house, then went to read that book again to find an ugly message saying I need to re-something the book to enjoy it again.

I like the apple itunes setup. You can only authorize so many computers (via a server) to use your itunes account. Once you've used them all up, in order to authorize a new machine, you first must de-authorize a previous machine. Yes its still tied into the machine, but with a few mouseclicks, you can release (your old laptop) it, and then authorize it on (the new laptop) a new machine.

It should work on Win7 x86 (32bit).

Also, you will need to look out for the driver on this thread. Not to sound like a dick, but I will not "update" YOU specifically on the progress. I dont mind helping out the community, but I will not spoon feed any one person!! Just keep an eye out here!!

VK, I did try installing pasta on this computer and using the same license file and it is per computer. I got an error stating the machine information in the license file didn't match the license.. It's not a big deal because once you buy one license the second one is $30. Which isn't too bad. I'm going to hold off for right now until we have some spare money.

Again I'm not trying to come across as a free loader.. I really appreciate all you guys' help!

I think you can get a dongle for pasta which isnt as bad as the per computer license. The program wont work properly unless the dongle is plugged in. Ask him for one, then you can try different computers until your fingers drop off
