ishow with windows 7

On the showcard I have here I have a header. It is labelled

Pin 1: H
Pin 2: J1
Pin 3: L
Pin 4: H
Pin 5: J2
Pin 6: L

It has jumpers across it.

Apart from that I cannot identify any other un populated pads on it.

edit: its a ptitrust board. Further googling required.

Those jumpers set whether or not its a single color or multi, and if it uses DMX, or the little LCD controller.

The iTrust board does differ from most others, and it does not have the pads I was referring to. However, it does use the same MCU, and its basically the same circuit/board , with a different layout.

The pads I am referring to on the "other" style board are outlined in red below. The 4 projectors I have had, and all the pics I have seen online of projectors using this card, never have these populated, and the manual does not mention them.

Sweet, can you tell me what pins they lead to on the MCU?

Both of the ones I have are in projectors at the moment.

Just for reference, there are a few variants of this particular board I have seen. One of them has an additional row of unpopulated resistors between the pads I pointed out, and the MCU, one is missing these component positions entirely.

The MCU they use can vary also. Some use the STC , and some use the Winbond MCU. However these are identical 8051 based MCU's, just different manufacturer.

They come in various solder mask colors as well. One of mine is red like the pic, and one is yellow, however they are electrically identical.

Im just pointing this out as if we get this to work, it will likely work with 98% of the show cards out there, even the iTrust card.

One good thing about the PatternISP app, is it has the ability to READ the data from the MCU back to the PC. That way, we just test connection with reads, so we dont potentially corrupt the MCU. When we figure out a port, and get a good read, then we can write.

One thing we will need to make certain of, that we have no information on, is just how many patterns we can store on the MCU. Some of the DATA space may be used by the program. If we write to that space by cramming to many patterns in, it may render the MCU essentially dead. The app may have some checks for this, but there is no way of knowing for sure without some documentation.

Pin G: Ground / Pin 20 of MCU
Pin 1: Pin 13 of MCU
Pin 2: Pin 26 of MCU
Pin 3: Pin 25 of MCU

Pins were counted in typical DIP package style - top left near notch anticlockwise around the chip (top left = 1, top right = 40)

edit: I just dmm'ed the same pins on the itrust, and looks like the only way you'll be able to reprogram it is to put the chip into the other boards socket and program it that way.

I just bought a generic RGY laser with the iShow box off of ebay. It said it included the software, but when it arrived, alas no CD. Is there anyplace I can download the driver? Message me if you can help me out.

My main machine is Win7x64. Which I know won't work. I was going to try XP VM in Win7 or just run WixXPx32 on my back up machine. The laser just arrived today, so I haven't thought it through for very long. Just trying to figure things out. I got a 500mw RGY with IDLA/USB box for $250. Which seemed like an ok deal., except no iShow.

is the usb box an ishow box?

I looks like the iShow box. It's a generic aluminum box, about 4 inches, with flanges and some molded ridges. There's zero markings on it. It looks just like this:

I really to test it out in the next day or so, because I want to make sure it wasn't broken in shipping. It was packed very poorly, but seems ok.

I have both the old, and new version iShow disk images. I can upload them for you in a split zip archive.


@DJRay... No, that file is not the iShow Win7 x64 drivers....sorry.....not yet!!!

Cody666, Here is a stripped down version of iShow. It is the full application, it just does not include all the ILDA files as they are large files. There are only a few included for you to test with. There are lots of drawing files to play with however.

It is portable, meaning no installation is required, and will run directly from the folder provided. Drivers for your DAC are also included.

The full package will not zip down small enough to upload here in one go. There are hundreds of ILDA files on the disk that total ~800mb

This will get you going on a WinXP machine anyway!!!
