so, i received my CASA laserlight projector today.

i have 2 issuses, one with the seller and one about the projector.
the seller said declaring 25USD was no problem but he filled in 95 USD. this made me pay 43 euro taxes :(

second issue is about the projector itself.
the projection is flickering....flickering alot! this is not really healthy for my eyes, and it very unconfortable to look at.

What is causing this problem?
do i need better galvo's, is the programmed show made with crap software or something?
or another cause?

But i was already amazed at the stopid effects that looked like cheapo GIF's. if i can stop the flickering i would be very happy already.

i hope it is fixable with you guys:)
im not afraid to buy something else for this device another time.

Build quality seems pretty damn good to! :)

I would try using the projector with a DAC of some sort.. in my experience even crappy projectors shape up a bit when driven by a decent DAC.

What projector was it? This one? http://laserpointerforums.com/f47/good-deal-58066.html
If yes, what did you expect for $670 lol.

Galvos are most likely very crappy, maybe 12kpps or something, or tuned wrong.

worse :p

and i already know your thinkings about cheap projectors.
this is it:
500mW DJ RGV DMX Laser Show Stage Light System ILDA - eBay, Stage Lighting, Lighting Effects, Stage Lighting Effects, Electronics. (Eindtijd 05-jan-11 17:20:11 CET)

im very happy with it except for the flickering.
can you link me to a tutorial to check the tuning? can the flicker be made because bad tuning?
Can i show you photos so you can see if they are upgradable by other chinese galvo's with more scan speed?

*shrug*.. 15kpps.. I'm guessing more like 12 or 10k. Not much you can do unfortunately. Even my 20kpps flickers a little on semi-complicated frames.

You can try to tune the scanners to higher kpps but lower scan angle. But it's hard and time-consuming, and it's not worth it due to the massive loss of scan angle needed to get a decent boost in scanning speed.. It's like pot-modding a laser.

Best thing you can do is buying new galvos.

I don't know. You should open up the laser and take a picture of the area around the galvos, the pros will be able to answer you :)

Another issue. What mirror do i need to move and how? Or is it the laser software thats preprogrammed?
There is no yellow in my shows. The green and red are slightly seperated by each other. About 1cm on 5 meter distance.
Im going to love messing around with it tommorow:)
Is moving them easy?

You need to adjust the dichros (the glass that lets green through but reflects red). Unfortunately this will most likely be impossible or very hard, because cheap projectors often has non-adjustable dichro mounts thats glued to the breadboard.

you are correct!
mmmh...

no yellow because a bad setup glass, alot of flikering...not good galvo's. i might open a paypal dispute and send this thing back, then buy something better next month.

how expensive are those mirrors? and is there a way to melt or get rid of glue on some way?

here a video

The price depends on the quality. Bad quality dichros will lower the optical power. Here are some cheap ones: RGB laser systerm combine optical lens /2pcs in a pack [OLRGML] - $25.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

and mounts: RGB laser systerm lens holder/frame/2pcs in a pack [OLRGBF] - $7.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

You can try to heat the glue somehow and see if you can unscrew the mounts somehow. I wouldn't recommend it though, unless it's really bad.

well i tried bending the mirror a tiny bit and it broke, nice...
really bending it 0,2mm would work but no.
i already opened a paypal dispute, and told them i broke the mirror.
But im saying this thing looks like a used unit, with glue all over, and is not working properly.
i hope i can win this, but i give myself low chances because i broke the mirror.

Edit:what will upgraded galvos do?
Ive seen the lasers themselfs flicker alot as well. But not always.
I will upload photos soon:)

I wanted to work on this thing and fix stuff but its hard when everything is glued tight.

I would be amazed if they let you return it after you opened it up and broke the dicro...

photos of my projector:
ImageShack Album - 6 images

the last photo is from the broken mirror i tried glueing. i will know probaly buy new mirrors.
how can i remove those mirrors plus glue? i dont care if they are destroyed by it.
And how can i set those linked o-like mirrors in place so they wont move during transport?
and can they be re-adjusted once in place?

Thanks.

EDIT: these are the galvo's im planning to use:)

update: i have managed to remove the breadboard on where the main galvo mirrors are(that make the projection come out of the box).
But the old galvo's are glued to the breadboard.
So if i upgrade the galvo's i will need a new breadboard. where can i order one thats maby adjustable in size or something? thanks.

also, where can i buy more not-so-expensive parts for a laser projector?
For example the ilda imput chip, and those kinds of stuff.
maby il just re-organise this whole projector for fun.
i really think this is going to by a hobby of mine.
