I can't really give you a link to what I'm describing, since they usually come packaged with motherboards. Let me look around my work tomorrow because I'm pretty sure I have just the thing for you. If i can find it I'll send it to you..

Most likely you won't have to worry about removing those shelves. there should be ample space to work with in there.

Alright thanks. It just needs to fill the back of the case. Here's a picture:

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite 360 RC-360-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mini Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

Its the second one from the right. Top left corner of the case...

I dont think i need analogue. I basically want to do stuff like in the pokerface beam show and in this video. YouTube - My homemade RGY laser scanner, second try (~0:20).

As for the case could i just dremmel a hole in the front for the galvos?

Couple more questions:

1) Where should i get a dichro/mount?
2) The PC case comes with a couple places for fans. I heard i should only use brushless fans. Where could i get some of those?
3) The PC case has 1 power input. How do i divide that between the green, red, and scanner PS's? I dont really know how to...(fusing them i think?)
4) Could i use one of the "breakout boards" (DZE) with my DAC? Then just hook up a DB25 cord to the DAC/scanner?

Thats it for now...im getting kind of tired...stayed up till two last night and got up at 7:30 :(

Thanks

1. you can get dichro/mounts from thesk8tingmidget
2. you can get fans from dx or and computer shop/radio shack
3.don't take my word on it but you could just put everything in parallel with it.(or get a power bar and put it in you case.)

I was thinking of that at first but didn't think it would work. I'll need power cords to cut the ends off of correct? How should I power the fans? An ac/dc adapter? Also (I guess this applies to the power switch as well as hooking the lasers up to the power bar) does it matter which is which (polarity?)? I dont think it should...

I'll probably go with ttl. If I can do shows like the pokerface one that's all I want. I found a green on eBay that looks exactly like the red one on o-like.

Do you think the computer case will by sturdy enough on it's own? I plan on bolting the parts down.

Thanks

You could try that green. I can't vouch for it like I can the green from o-like, though, which in my case does closer to 175mW. I'd recommend sticking with o-like since they are a known reputable supplier. I'm sure you'll do fine getting that red from Susie, though.

My only concern is if the aperature's are the same height. Also susie's red runs off of 5v DC. ill just buy an adapter to plug into the power strip. Does the polarity matter? The 3 pronged plug on the computer case probably has wires attached to it in the inside of the case. How should i hook that up to the power strip? And when im hooking the green up to the power strip can i just take a lamp cord and cut the end off? then just solder the two wires from the cord to the two from the laser?

Ill PM sk8 about the dichro/mount...Thanks jamilm.

TBH I'm not sure if the apertures will be the same height, but you can always use a shim to even them up (you'll most likely need to do this anyway during alignment).

You're right on about the lamp cord. Just cut & solder, no polairty since it' AC. (Just remember, the green or green striped wire is always ground)

Ok good. Just checking. Any luck on the DB25 connector? I found one on a website (no expansion card slot though..).

The computer case has a switch on the front. Could i wire everything to that? (basically when hooking up the power strip take one of the wires from that and hook it up with the switch and let the other go straight to the strip?) That should allow me to turn on everything. Do you usually give your scanner a 10 minute warm up? I heard that labbies generally need a little warm up time.

Also once i get mine up and running would you send me the pokerface beam show? (its in spaghetti i think..). I want to try it out :D

Thanks

I actually had to call in sick today, so I'll have to look on Monday. If I have one, I'll just send it straight out to you that afternoon from work.

I'm sending you a PM about the beam show..

Update: I just found this website: modu (thankyou PL)

And on a page from that website: modu (look at the picture at the very bottom. ) It has holes pre-cut so all i would have to do is bolt the lasers/optics/amps/PS's down. I would have to make cuts in the front/back for the ILDA port/power input, and a hole in the front for the exit aperature. I would also need some fan holes...

I think the cheapest was 43 euro which is ~90 dollars I think. They aren't cheap but I like the holes pre-cut. That is a nice touch. I'm going to keep looking at PL. I saw a couple other links to case sights.

That's a really nice case. I jut emailed modu. I'll see how much my custom case will be. Where can I get 4 40mm brushless fans? Also how can I power all 4 from 1 power supply?

Thanks
