Glad to hear it worked. I know it's sure bright in y back yard -- Sometimes the neighbors come out to watch !!
I have a 5 pin plug coming so I can mod my "microphone cable" as a 5 to 3 pin adapter. Then I'll download that program. Can you use it to draw pictures ??
Glad it went well for you things, I can't wait to see those pictures. Mike my neighbours kids quite often come out and see mine scanning when I take it out, they certainly have the wow factor ;D ;D
hehe. mike the software i showed you and used just uses sliders to select the DMX value, and the actual scanner itself is not fast enough to draw pictures, as it uses stepper motors, because they are cheap! a good laser show uses "galvo's", which in themselves can cost over $600 so if this scanner could do pictures, it would have cost well over $900!
Some of the stuff the scanner outputs go fast -- Swirls, boxes etc. Why can't a basic image - say an "M" be put in using x-y inputs ?? Up , down up down etc.
could be possible, but you'd have to get a steady beam, and access to the lasers steppers directly. maybe we could ask david if he can program images into it, after all, he did somehow put the "welcome" one in. have you got your box yet?
I got the "box".. I'll have the 5 pin plug on 9/12. Then I'll be ready to play with the output. I think that there will be updates to the program to allow minimal pictures input by DMX soon.
Glad you got paid for all that fun you had. Wish I could have been there
3 AM ??? 3 nights ??? You kids love that stuff ;D An excuse to stay up late and meet the "groupies" for parties Oh yeh .... I used to play rock years ago and I know..........
hehehe ;D ;D it was a tough 3 days though! 2 days setting up, 2 hours of controlling the laser, and 1 day of packing up! it was good fun though, apart from when the hazer ran out of juice, and laser shows are useless without fog! luckily we found some more.
the cd has the drivers on it, but if you are using windows XP, it should automatically load the drivers. so plug the box into your computer, and there should be some pop ups down the bottom of your screen. they should say that it is searching for the box, it's installing the drivers for the box, or it has allready installed the drivers. if it doesn't automaticaly install the drivers, then you have to use the CD. the CD has some software on it, but those are mostly demo versions. i didn't know there was different types???give me a sec, i'll have a look. oh BTW, to use this software, you have to install net1.1, which i think is on the microsoft website. but if you allready have that installed, don't worry bout it.
I loaded the drivers in and got the RJ DMX program running but it doesn't talk. I don't think I have net1.1 -- I searched nt C drive.
I can't find simply net1.1 at micrpsoft - The nearest I can get is Net framework compact 1.1. I don't think that's it.
does the little green light on the box flash? yep you leave all dipswitches at 0. here is where i downloaded net 1.1, although it is quite a big file. you can tell if it is working by looking at the LED on the back of the laser, and if it is flashing really fast, it is working. and if the green led on the box is flashing
