Default Blu-ray with TTL?

I've been pondering this for a while.... with the new 803 diode for xbox, people are making homemade pointers pushing 100mw out. Is it possible to use a curcuit like DDL's and add a relay to it for TTL modulation??? The diode would have to been placed in a suitable heatsink to let it be used as a module........

403... Someone has to explain why its being called 803 for some reason.

There is no reason why not, I thought of this a while back and if I remember right I have seen one somewhere.

We are referring to the diode as an "803" because it comes from the PHR-803T laser sleds. There are several other 405nm diodes out there. To tell them apart when we talk about them requires different "labels" for them. There is the 6X, the 803, the 0811, & the PS3. They all lase at around 405nm, but they have different power inputs/outputs. When someone refers to the "803" diode they are talking about one of the diodes that come from the PHR-803 sled. For example the XBOX 360 HD DVD add on units use two different sleds in them, the PHR-803T and the DT-0811. Giving the diode a "name" (like 803) allows us to speak more easily about which diode we are referring to.

Peace,
dave

Default Re: Blu-ray with TTL?

right been scratching around for components... looks like all you need to do is put a 5v relay in series just before the circuitry... 5v triggers the relay on or off... trying to find a dvd writer to take apart to test before going for a blu-ray...

the DrLava driver (Flexdrive not the microdrive) has modulation and it will drive from 30mw to 5w i think.. i have one of those on a red (long open can 650) and im buying annother (or 3) for the 803T sleds i bought.

im using thease lasers in a scanpro20 setup..

so the answer to the original questipon is yes.. *

and furthermore, its been done, and works great.

checked it out... not to bad ;D and not that expensive, might be a better option, but only up to 30mw? where did you see that?

btw a relay doesn't react nearly fast enough to handle TTL modulation ;D

Mario is 100% right about the relay, they are no where near fast enough for TTL modulation. If anything, the signal will be changing so fast the relay wont even click over, it would be like it was getting a PWM signal.
