I found this on youtube ... and its exactly what im after!

YouTube - Dual Laser show (Music Double you)

I have no knowledge about lasers or how they are controlled ... I don't want to build this kind of setup id just like to buy it all.

Could someone be so kind and tell me where I can buy equipment like this?

Or, is there anyone on here that can build custom stuff like this and il buy it from them?

It will be for inside use mainly ... although maybe when i throw raves outside on my acreage il chuck them outside for a whirl ....

read the Laser Shows forum here and see the scanners made by other members. it should give you an idea about what you need to build one. and I think there are some tutorials about scanners
but these things aren't very cheap so you need maybe $300 for an simple 20kpps 100mW green scanner
well... good luck

For that money you'll get a pretty nice custom setup, actually a very nice setup.

Also it might be worth checking out Photonlexicon.com, they deal more with scanners and shows, we tend to deal with pointers and the actual laser systems :)

Tip: Make sure you search photolexicon good and hard before making your first post...

I am sure one of the guys there would be willing to build a scanner for you or sell you the parts.

You don't need to build a scanner. For low-budget equipment is it cheaper to buy whole projectors.

You need three things:
1. A laser projector
2. A DAC (controls the laser)
3. Software (controls the DAC via a computer)

For laser projectors, you can f.ex check ebay, spacelas.com or other sellers. (Remember, the projectors need an ILDA port to be able to be controlled.

DACs are pretty expensive, for lower budgets your best bet is a sound card dac. 300EVIL on photonlexicon.com sells pre-built and tuned sound card DACs for $150, or you can build yourself for cheaper.

Software, there are some free software around, but they are not very good for displaying shows. I reccommend Spaghetti, it is $50 and you can create and play all kinds of shows.

Another simpler way to go is to grab a cheap set of scanners with DMX program board. You are limited to say 100 effects including animations, but the scanner can run without a PC attached, or with via DMX serial control to select the effect and size/speed params etc.

My first laser light show was Led Zep in 1976. Hooked was not the word.
Then Blue Oyster Cult. The rest is history.

Blue Oyster Cult.

little laser show trivia, did you know that they are one of the primary reasons we all have to do variances now?

they had a large Ar/Kr hooked to a fiber that went to the end of a guitar and would scan it around the audience randomly during concerts...

thats when the government decided that a 30+ page document and insane rules would keep everyone safe

Yea, never been a big fan of government regulations.

The government knows just enough about things to make it a pain for everybody once they get involved.
If I ever got cancer I would look outside the US for treatment if they ever said it was terminal.
But I digress!

Laser on! Keep light free!

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than it used to be! When I first got hooked on lasers as a kid, I dreamed of having a projector capable of doing graphics, but at the time closed loop galvos cost hundreds each, a multiline argon, big HeNe, AOMs and other bits and pieces would bring the cost up to ~$5K for a basic RGB setup. Today it's possible to build a fully solid state RGB projector for a few hundred bucks, with turnkey systems well under $2K.

The hard part I'm finding is coming up with something worth projecting. My artistic skills are unfortunately nowhere near my technical skills, I'd be hard pressed to draw a decent stick figure! lol
