I paid $250 for my 30K scanners about 3 yrs ago. You can probably find them now for $199 or so. Maybe cheaper. I just don't see the rationality in spending all that time and money to buy 20K scanners when for just a little more you can get something that will give you a 33% performance increase. It does make a difference. But, you have to do what you can afford.

I would love to know where you bought it.

the thing is i am not that good with electronics what so ever. so i am more on the route of buying a pre-built projector. maybe down the road i will install 30k scanners and i will defiantly keep you in mind. thanks for the suggestion!

It all depends on what you want though. For animations 30k would be desireable, but if you just want to project some fans, beams, 'liquid skies' etc a slower system could suffice.

When you run animations that are too fast for the galvo system you get problems like rounded corners, overshoot and such. If you are projecting text this may change the output dramatically, but it would not make the text unreadable in all cases.

Over-shoot and rounded corners is more often what happens when you're over-driving them or if they're not properly tuned. If they ARE properly tuned and running at rated speed, the worst that can happen with complex graphics is a painfully low frame-rate and/or lots of flicker.

Sure... its one or the other. You can always slow down the pps to stay within what the system can handle, but that isnt always the best option. Especially for beamshows a bit of overshoot, rounding or other error isn't very noticable.

If you are sticking with slower scanners, you just have to choose what the main application is going to be: animations or beamshows. In case of animations you can tune the system for a smaller output angle (i.e. smaller projection at a give distance) to gain some speed.

In this case i'd either stick with the 10k scanner thats in there, or replace it with the 30k thats offered in the group buy. Due to the gb the price difference between getting the 20k and 30k is so small i wouldn't think twice.
