Zonestealth 250mw any good?

Found a 250mw zonestealth on ebay for $100, are these any good?

He's marketing it as a lab laser system and it appears to require a driver to operate so eBay won't take it down.

Here's what you should be focusing on:

" Legal Notice: The Laser Diodes and Modules are designed solely as an OEM component for incorporation into the customer's end products. Therefore, this laser does not and is not required to comply with the appropriate requirements of FDA 21 CFR, section 1040.10 and 1040.11 for complete laser products. "

Anyone who sells a laser system that only needs to be plugged in or have a battery added must comply with FDA Title 21. By trying to make an operating laser an OEM product they can sell you 30mW and call it a 250mW because the FDA has no record of their registration which requires the output of the system. They are also required to provide proper instructional documentation, safety documentation, and calibration documentation according to Title 21 which the seller is attempting to bypass. This vendor is in Hong Kong. For him to import the laser it must have an FDA accession number. So he's basically telling you he will ignore the FDA requirements after he gets it into the country.

Yeah that looks a lot like the one in the buy sell and trade section that some girl had, and her "boss" wouldn't let any sample units be tested by Greg. I would be careful if I were you.

Well you know, with lasers you kind of get what you pay for. That is if the seller is 100% fair.

Well you are the only one I know of that has made that claim. What did you measure the power with? Have you been able to focus the beam? Does it light matches?

Lasercheck. Why wouldn't I be able to focus the beam? oh YES it lights matches... it'll light red matches. I've even lit cigs with it (focused)

If you get it, make sure you give it a full 5V. None of this 3.3V crap, that'll only get you 3mW

Anyway, i have a 100mw from zs and provided i give it a full 5v, it lights matches, instantly smokes plastic and popped a ballon at 8m away so i guess it seems close enough to 100mw. Kinda peeved though since the focus isnt adjustable but the ones on his new batch are.
