Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

 A great big thank you to Len who set up this group buy and has done many other I may say to every ones total satisfaction, Thanks !

And to Linna who supplied a very good product and a very reasonable price so much so I would not only rec amend this PJ to any one who
asked but I will be buying at least one more for myself and probably TWO :D

I actually took mine to a party last night and every one there was impressed to say the least, lots of people was taking video pictures
of the beams and shows with there phones

Thanks and a big Tip-O-the hat to both of you guys for getting these cool machines out to us light junkies :eg:

Pyro...

BTW cool pic's jeffrey :D

If anyone EVER has any problems with alignment or yours is just "slightly" off. I have made a basic guide telling you how to adjust your laser. It's REALLY simple. You will need to put your laser into what I like to call (X Y) Mode. (I don't know what it is actually called.. but you can flip your patterns in this mode if you wish). To get into X Y mode... Push your menu button 5 times and then press enter. This will keep it in the mode and you can work on alignment without a lasershow going on. (Of course you don't need this mode if you can project an ILDA pattern)

If done correctly it should look like this.

IMG_20130403_183734_zps7ad65ae2.jpg

Now what you want to do is take the front and top panels off your projector.

IMG_20130403_160437_zpse047a600.jpg

Once that is done you can begin alignment. It should not take more than 10 mins TOPS if your projector is somewhat already aligned. Here is an image that tells you what you should be turning. And thats it! Put it all back together and laze away!

Quick question, is it possible to damage the scanners in this if you set the scan rate in QS over the 20 kpps these scanners do?

If you overdrive anything it is possible to damage them. I also wouldn't consider the 20kpps a hard and fast number. It also depends on the angle of scanning.

What you really should do is benchmark your scanners with the ILDA test pattern so that you know what the limits of the scanners are, and then use that.

Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

great help BB!!
and Jeff gave you the info I was about to add- like me you must have gone thru the user guide without REALLY absorbing all that is there- it does get more complicated when you get to the DMX and the LED modes- I got it quicker by reading and doing what I read at the same time-

BBadger is always quick w/ good advice-

both the scan angle and the KKPS have their own effect to what you see- I am not sure about any harm but I personally would not try 30kpps... AS the higher you go the faster the x&y must move and doing that could possibly cause a mirror to fly off and you dont want that--

also for reasons I am not yet perfectly clear on- some of the animations in QS have more 'flicker' than others with the same PJ & settings- go to 'animals' and do the flying eagle- its has almost no flicker while it obvious that it is quite complex-

also to see how well your PJ is doing go to all the ILDA test patterns at QS and see what yours does and read what all that means- I could be wrong but I think Linna has ours set at the best settings- there is no way short of ugradeing your scanners to get a 40kpps output with just 20 KPPS scanners-

about ttl vs analog-

we would have needed to pay much more for that ....

IIRC the cheapest PJ I have seen that is full color was close to $900 and even DIY you will spend more for parts and if you add what your labor time is worth-- no way can you match the newer and better PJs coming from China.. Myself I will upgrade by TRYING to add what is needed to make these comlplaint and get an assention number- NO EASY task due to the expense involved but more so because there in not much free room inside for all that is needed.

short list(aside from the 36 page of forms that must be completed)

1) delay start-up
2) scan fail
3) both the E-stop and other interlocks
4)more warning stickers
5) a shutter to block beam in the event of a malfunction
& just to be able to sell yrself and do a show you will need
1) pricey insurance
2) become a varianced operator ( thats different than a varianced PJ)
3) back-up PJs should one or more die on you mid-show- no pay for 3/4ths of what your contract calls for
4) TRAVEL CASES FOR ALL YOUR GEAR
5)vehicles and crew to do set -up and tear down-
6) proper signage to protect all & any that may be in the same building
7) hands-on trained operators to look over all the gear during a show.

Bottom line- the 'fun & glamore' of the job may be only 10% the rest is a lot of hard work and not all that 'fun'--

AND even if you have deep pockets it could be a very long time just to get your investment back.
A better way could be to try and get hired by an established show company and tough it out-- pay your dues and hope for the best- but at least you would not be investing a lot of capital for no return..internships are generally low paying gigs-

& you might have to work a few shows for free just to get a low paying job..

Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

As promised I had the PJ hooked up with ILDA and Quickshow and grabbed some video (No music...sorry). This all looks SOOO much better in person. My iPhone was having auto-focus issues. There is also less flicker in person...I wish I could grab a great video but that camera is at the other house.

Some abstracts from QS

Quick shots of some of the ILDA test patterns:

Finally a little text :D

Yep my camera work sucks...lol

My white is a bit purple at distance, but I'm not certain I want to try to get it any better,

Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

Nice Post James--+3 when allowed.
Several have metered the 450/445 modules and of the three it was the most overspec ,
which explains the purple-ish looking white. AFAIK there is no(easy) way to lower the blue module output- but I could be wrong. Also as our eyes can see colors differently from person to person --so there's that to consider. To the average non-lasergeek person I doubt they would even notice or mention that.

Its funny that when we see white lasers, say in a video or on TV, we think WOW! nice white laser while the rest just think its a damn bright white light. Also if you view white laser thru those free cardboard trip glasses one sees white laser as the three colors close together or if yellow is being projected we see red and green but no yellow at all.

ANYHOO-- if you want one of these projectors of your own --just PM me and get your $510 ready to send- two have paid and that leaves only 8 more to send me their payments.

I do not take Paypal as I don't have too. If you want to write me a personal check that needs to be done sooner rather than later as I cannot do anything until it clears my bank.

Best choice is a $1.99 USPS MO. my bank treats these the same as cash and it makes doing the bank transfer easy. That process takes a day or so. and ONLY then will Linna perform the pre-shipping 12 hour testing. When that is complete our boxes are handed over for Express shipping and we will get delivery in 3 to 6 days.

My SoftWare 'bundle' deal is also available- Linna ships your PJ and I will mail you a new Pangolin Quick Show and the DAC(Flash Back 3)- if for any reason you are not happy with QS return in same shape with all oriiginal box/CD ROM/ cords etc for a ful and prompt refund for the purchase price- Total for the Bundle Deal is $1020.

FYI these Linna PJs are not compliant with FDA rules.

Technically you should not display it in a public place or for profit. In home use is OKay. BY making purchase it must be understood that you have read all the cautions and warnings in the Users Guide, will abide by them, and will assume all & full responsibility for use.

Not For Sale to persons under 18 years of age.

PM me with any Qs you may have.

TY :wave::D:)
Len
FYI
>>here is PDF User GUide dwnld it and SAVE- lot to read there before you fire up that PJ..

ALSO>FYI you will need a db25 cable if you want to use software--same as a printer cable db25M/F. Cheap at thrift shops-very few printers now use them.

Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

Okay.

So I'd like to post my impressions on this unit. I'm not sure where to start!

So When I got this laser unit. DHL did a good number on it and busted it up pretty good. I plugged it in and immediately I was blown away. The colors on it were a little off due to what I would assume to be DHL's fault. I fixed that shortly. Even though they were off. The animations I was seeing were beautiful! I just could not get over the 3d effects and how bright the colors were! There are so many animations when you use the DEFAULT preprogramed shows that I simply could not get my head around it. I expeted to get a few patterns and have those mixed with the diffraction, 3d ect. NOPE! There must be about 50 different patterns with each pattern! I watched this for about an hour and was still seeing different patterns and colors :D.

Heres a short video I had done for a friend. My camera can NOT pickup how beautiful the colors and effects are in person! The second video best matches the music with the video

Now build quality was a different story. First thing I'd like to note on build quality was the dichros and the mounts. Very good quality mounts, very easy to realign and more. I mentioned that my alignment was off and just because my red seemed a little off I decided to COMPLETELY take off the dichro mounts and document them for you guys. Realignment for someone who has never aligned dichros was extremely easy and painless. I have seen dichros that were non adjustable and I'm so glad this unit has adjustable ones!

The unit was really sturdy and moving it did not throw off the alignment!

The lasers from what I can visually see "especially the green" seem over spec. I don't have my meter since its currently being rebuilt but I can say with confidence that the lasers are within the rated specs. Even the beam divergence seems pretty good!

All 3 of my modules stay really cool to the touch and none of the fans are really noisy.

Another thing was the AR coated glass window. I did NOT expect it to be AR coated. That was a plus!

Honestly I could not be happier with my unit! I would recommend this unit to everyone and anyone looking to get into entry level RGB projectors. You won't find a better deal with all the features this has even if you DIY.

I'm sorry to keep posting here. However I seen jncranmer's post and well... If you guys need me to do an in depth tutorial on how to properly align the units. I'd be more than happy to. I don't know how well the video will come out but I will try my best to make it as in depth as I can. I promise its not hard if you follow my guide.

Jeff that would be great. The more information we have the better. I'm fairly certain I could follow what you have already posted and come out all right but others might need / want more information.

Re: UPDATED,THE'RE HEERREEE!!!>(*u*)<A better ILDA projector deal than the REKE 500

First of all thanks laserlinna and Len for making this possible. My PJ arrived with a little damage to the box, thanks DHL, however my PJ works great and it was only cosmetic issues. The alignment was good; only needed a few minor tweaks to get it even better. The pre-programed modes look good and their are a lot of them, but the real potential of this PJ is unlocked with QS. The build is very clean and well done. When I first turned it on I was instantly impressed by the color. I have nothing but good things to say about these units, I would highly recommend them to anyone.
