Well if he was an entrepreneur trying to make money... why would he block me
from bidding on his stuff... when I had already purchased from him with good
results ( feedback/sales) all around ??? :-?

He had a 6Amp Laser Diode driver up on eBay that I was going to bid on when I
found out I was Blocked while making the bid. I E-Mailed him numerous times to
find out why... But I guess he's too busy making money to respond. :

This money making entrepreneur has lost at least $700.00 in the last month by
blocking me from bidding.
Oh BTW I found a 40Amp LD driver for less a week later... I should maybe thank
him. : : :

IDK --Maybe he just doesn't like your socks. Maybe he prefers about to aboot. Maybe he thinks shipping things "north" is harder than shipping things "south."

People do things for their own personal reasons. Since he chose not to share his reason with you, you are pretty much stuck with looking elsewhere.

If you need a replacement head... that's a fairly good price.. but if you want an LPM then
for about $50.00 more you can get a complete callibated LaserBee I with delivery included
to the USA. : :

The ones up on ebay are not the same models that sold before, take a look at the number of screws on the face of them and they have the full model number on the back side of them, those are $716.00 + tax & shipping; sure they cost more than the previous surplus model sold on ebay before, but all things considered they're still a bargain.

Yes but the Laserbee is over stating power by +12%, whereas the Coherent Thermopile hooked-up to a Kenometer for example will give you much better results.

I'm going to try bidding on it, hopefully I win! I can make my ADC for it, but I need a decent thermopile to calibrate to some good standard.

Sorry to disillusion you Electron... but that may have been way back with the
1st Generation PCBs without the Silk Screen and Solder Mask.
We didn't even have a name for the product at that time.
That may have been the case then. And I was under the impression that they
were under-stating power... I may be wrong. :-?

Those were calibrated using a Coherent LaserCheck.
We had purchased a second LaserCheck and low and behold... the two didn't
even read the same.

With the 2nd Generation  PCBs we gave our poduct the name LaserBee I.
We also purchased a Newport 1825-C LPM and a brand new Newport 818T-10
Thermopile Head.

We have run extensive tests against the Newport 1825-C LPM and the
LaserBee I.
The LaserBee I tracks the Newport 1825-C (our worst case scenario) to within
+/-2% (that's an error of 4%) across its range .
We've designed into the LaserBee I a simple way for you to calibrate it against
any known good LPM. Its range is from 5mW to 1050mW.

We are now at the 3rd Gereneration LaserrBee I PCBs with some new features.

It is no where as accurate as your $3,700.00 LPM but it doesn't cost as much as
yours either
We continually tweak the LaserBee I to get the best accuracy/performance
possible.

BTW I don't want this to sound like a sales pitch... just wanted to clarify...

Jerry, my conclusion was based upon a Laser I bought from Rattlehead on this forum, the MegaDilda; sold by Rattlehead, the Graph generated by the LaserBee yields +12% more than reality.

That one from Rattlehead is a 2nd Generation PCB.

Electron... do you still have it??? Please say that you do.....

If it is 12% high compared to your meter then all you need to do is re-calibrate it
to your meter....  but don't do it until I talk to you.

This is indeed great information for me.  

I've been wanting to contact you about some specific tests for some time now.  
I'll get in touch with you tomorrow when I'm in the shop with a few questions...

I'm not sure if you misread my post; I only purchased the MegaDilda, not the meter. The graph I'm talking about is the graph rattlehead posted in the thread I referenced, thats shows what the MegaDilda was putting out.  My readings show it to be 12% less, thus the conclusion about the laserbee.

I hope you win one, I bought a couple from him and I bought a bnc adapter directly from Coherent to try them on my meter and those sensors are spot on and mucho cheaper than the very expensive sensor I bought with my meter.  

Unlike the other surplus ones sold for cheaper last year, there are no scratches, burn marks, etc on them, if it wasn't for the coherent manufacturing label with date and calibration info on the back of them, you'd swear they are brand new. These are still available from coherent and will set you back almost $800.00 with tax & shipping.....so there still a good deal.
