I was looking for some laserpointers at dealperfect and came across this

http://www.dealperfect.com/detail.dp/sku.21715

would make a nice laserpointer host :p
It is rechargeable, big enough to hold a module and at only 25$ cheap
now you are able to blind AND stun your attacker at the same time :D

I ordered one, hope it is here fast and has no customs problems (but DP labels everything as flashlight, my pepperspray also came through so I think it wont be a problem)

"For female" hahaha ;b
It would be kinda awesome though to have a laser and stun gun combined, but you would have to be really careful that you don't fry your laser. Also, the buttons on this thing are insanely ugly IMO.
Let me know when you get it and whether it can be used :)

Honestly, i don't suggest you to put a LD in a stud gun ..... not a cheap one like this, anyway.

Current required from the elevator is very high at the start and decrease at charged level, causing lots of fluctuations in the power section ..... also, if the stud gun is the type with the spark gap (the ones that continuously spark), all the sparks generates high EMI pulse, ESD field and lot of electrical disturbs, putting your diode at risk of dead.

If was an unit that you build yourself, with the adeguate shielding, power bypass, and safe circuits, maybe is possible do it in safe way, but from a cheap commercial unit, i really doubt that ..... :)

Besides which a laser is a really crap choice. A flashbulb would be much better.

As I've said elsewhere, though, any sort of self defense weapon minus training equals trouble, and not for the would-be attacker. You'll just end up causing the attacker to feel justified in using violence against you. Getting ready to do violence takes time for anyone that's not drugged out of their mind or psychologically unstable. Presenting a threat gets them ready to do violence in a fraction of the time, and gives motivation.

If you know trouble is headed your way in time to get out the self defense weapon, you should use that time to get out of harm's way instead, and spend the money on some ice cream while you reflect on how you got to be in harm's way in the first place.

I agree, but just let him try.. it's a fun experiment even if it won't serve a purpose for self defense.
