I just checked a few things out. It appears that the jaws will widen a bit more. There was a very slight hang-up. I didn't re-measure it. However, it looks like 1.5in stock will fit in these stock jaws. Granted that is on the last thread so I'm not sure how "tight" I would crank it at that diameter ;)

Peace,
dave

Can't those "chuck jaws" be taken out and turned 180 degrees and be put back in?

Great news!

For those who haven't seen this site Mini Lathe Setup, it has a lot of helpful info... how to clean, lubricate, dial in, etc.

Often those small jaws can't be reversed. My larger one came with 2 sets of jaws.
However, those can be backed out to grab the inside of larger tubing.

Those lathes are made pretty sloppily from the factory. Take them completely apart when you get them, get all of that cosmoline off and then lube them appropriately. I have the 7x12 version and there is a lot of lapping and scrapping that can be done to make them smoother and more accurate. At the least, make sure you learn to properly adjust the gibs.

Ice are you serious? I placed an order at the start of this thread and contacted harbor freight. They said it will arrive in the warehouse in two weeks.

LOL, i've found a shop here that sell this exact item ..... here is re-branded as "valex c150" (but is still the same identical sieg C0), and cost 399 Euro (550$, at the actual change :p)

I guess that it will cost me less if i order it there and pay also the shipping fees from USA to Italy, LOL

Harbor Freight has more than one shipping center.

^^ I'm not surprised. When I went into the HF store they were out-of-stock as well. The clerk told me they had sold out the first day of the sale and weren't expecting any more to arrive. I hate going there, it reminds me of the jungle (walmart).

They did have a mini lathe....for $399.

I worry customer support just doesn't know that this is a clearance yet and backorders online will not be filled. Hopefully that is not the case.

I called harbor freight yesterday because someone on a lathe forum got theirs, that they ordered on the 13th. I ordered on the 12th.

Harbor Freight said that was impossible, it's first come, first serve. They also said it was 20 business days before mine would ship.

They lied, several people have ordered after me and got them. Including daguin.

And as I noted earlier, mine is en route. But I tend to agree, maybe they are First come, first serve for each shipping center, but not for the entire country.

BTW,

here is a video of someone who just got theirs today and is trying it out on alum and steel along with some pics of uncrating.

Thanks for the video link! We need more videos and pics :).

I got a little post card type thing in the mail yesterday confirming my order. Maybe they do that for backorders? That seems weird. I have never ordered something online before and got something like that before.
