I hope you all realize you can't even put a 1" diameter piece of stock in this model, it's realy a jewlers lathe.
So if you plan on making heatsinks with it plan on only making the mini models :crackup:

1.75" which is gauge 1
I also think there is a 2" jaw available
but yeah its small, just not quite that small

Anyone want to put 5 of these on a shipping palette and ship them to Europe? Even after shipping and voltage conversion, we'd be getting an OK deal on these. (How much interest would there be in this for UK buyers if shipping cost was shared? Anyone shipped trans-continent before? Profitable if re-sold on eBay? I'd be happy to spend about $150 to get one of these with basic tools and a larger chuck)

I'd be interested in one if it came with tools and everything I needed to get it up and running. Seems great for host heatsinks and things.

A 120-240v adaptor is like £15, provided it can output enough power. I could possibly DIY a solution or it might accept the higher voltage, but in lieu of a better option, my LPM's adaptor is 45W and cost about £12 IIRC. Is 45W enough? I suspect I could push it higher, but IDK how high it could go.
EDIT: 1/5HP is 150W so perhaps not. I'll look around... Worst comes to worst, transformer with 2:1 windings should be fine.
Where in the UK are you, Asherz? $73+40+tools+a little extra for the person on the US side sounds like it could be within my budget with a bit of luck. If shipping went 3 or 4 ways that'd be better, or I might buy another and sell it on.

I just purchased 1 I'll post some pictures and do a review on it when it arrives at my door step.
It will be a huge transition, I am used to working with 60,000 dollar HAAS lathes @ Tech which are all computer controlled dialed to tenths tolerance to a 4" x 5" micro manual lathe
But it will be a nice lathe to have in the pole building for heatsinks and small projects.
From what I have read its a steal at this price and still at the original price of $299!

The jaws on that lathe can also expand to grab larger tube stock from the inside. You will likely need a large live center to do this.
Remember that this lathe will need a lot of tool bits, tool holders, tail stock chuck, centers, center drills etc etc. Still --- You need one.

Where does it say it can handle 1.75"? I can't seem to find that data. I have a 7x12 mini lathe and I have to switch jaws if I want to work on anything bigger than 1.5". IIRC, when I was checking this micro lathe out at the store, I didn't think it would handle even 1" stock. I hope I'm wrong...

Can anyone define more precisely what it means by it won't cut threads? What is the limiting factor with threads? Is it the precision or size of the accessories that it would need to hold?
