If you're willing to wait 60 days and can find what you want as a Buy It Now auction on Ebay, you can save 25% 20% off of ANYTHING, up to $200 total discount and up to 6 (or 12?) times.

To get the discount:

1. Goto www.live.com (a Microsoft website)
2. Search for something the the word "cheap" in it, like "cheap phone", "cheap ps3" or something else.
3. At the top of the results, there should be an ad that says "Buy [your search]. You may get 25% off with Paypal if eligible."
4. Click the link and it will bring up an Ebay search, but just input in the Ebay search bar whatever it is you're trying to find.
5. Find what you want and click Buy It Now
6. Before you have to commit to buying, you should see a little box that says how much your Microsoft cashback will be (it may say the auction is not eligible if they use a 3rd party payment system). If you don't see this, you're either doing something wrong, or I don't know.
7. After you buy, you'll get a message in your Ebay inbox about the cashback (it may take a couple hours) and you'll just have to sign up for an account on Microsoft (or use an existing one) and link it to your Ebay account.
8. Now, wait 60 days and then you get your money!

NOTE: if you're outside the US, I don't think you will be eligible, so don't blame me if it doesn't work. Also, they strictly enforce denying cashback for any shenanigans like you trying to sell something to yourself just to get the cashback or if they find that you informed your buyers on how to get the discount, or if you buy multiple auctions of the same item (maybe), or if you resell the item (you should probably wait until after you get your cashback).

Re: Save 25% off Ebay via rebate

rkcstr,

Thanks for that one! It just saved me $70
cheers,
kernelpanic

p.s.- 2 caveats-

1. You must purchase your item within 60 minutes of your live.com search.
2. You'll only get the cashback on your first item purchased after the live search. So if you want to use it again you have to start over at live.com...

Yeah, you do have to use the Buy-It-Now relatively quickly... but if you lose it, you can just go back and do the search again.

Also, you can use it more than once... up to 12 times, at $200 each, maximum $2500 savings, seen under their conditions:

"Cashback Program
The Microsoft Live Search Cashback Program provides cashback for up to 12 qualifying purchases per account on www.ebay.com. The amount of cashback will be determined by eBay, specified at the time of checkout on the "purchase review page" and equal to a percentage of the sale price (excluding shipping and handling fees, insurance fees and other such fees) ("Cashback Rewards"). The maximum amount of Cashback Rewards per qualifying purchase is $200.00 USD. In addition, all Cashback Rewards (including Cashback Rewards earned in connection with purchases made on websites other than www.eBay.com) are subject to the annual $2,500.00 per person cap set forth in the Program Terms.

Well, guess the 30% was just for Black Friday.... that sucks that its even lower than before.

It has gone as high as 35% in the past, was at 30% for a little while, then dropped to 25% for a number of weeks before BF... now I guess its down again, but to only 20% this time. I wouldn't be surprised to see it jump back up again before Christmas, though.
