Got my fiber coupled "B&W tek" 532 in today. the head is made by CNI, hence the quotes. it was like 1-2mW when i turned it on first, so i cut the photodiode off, and boom- around 200mW now. I need to add a lens to the front though, the output isn't collimated very well. But for 100$, I ain't complaining! If you have some spare money, I highly suggest snagging on of these while the deal is still there.

That's an OPSL box. Pretty neat. Bet it gets crazy hot inside though. That should be bolted to a heatsink/OT for extended use. And NEVER opened

Its just the crystals. Its not a complete 532nm laser.

That's a cold-cathode germicidal lamp. It requires a special inverter to power it. Power used is something like 3W. You can have over 4 times the power for a third the price.

Some good deals and some dirty selling methods--

NEVER assume a listing where you THINK you are going to get three (RG &V) pointers for very little- they do all they can to make you think you will get three when in fact the listing is for ONE only-

BUT.. when you can REALLY buy three pointers for around 9 $usd thats crazy cheap-- even if one out of three is DOA or does not last long--

These would be easy to use for making 3 color:

Lumia
Tunnel or Liq. Sky EFXs
or a 3 color handheld--

I suggest you order more then a single set as it is not rare that one may arrive DOA or fail soon.. VERY important that you run (duty)these for LESS than three minutes before allowing an equal time of rest.
One 'guide ' you may use is the length of a typical song.

These typically have a 30mW 532 and a 80mW 650 inside- I just bid $2 on the one above
They are interesting little moving grating PJs--- but boring after a while- I now buy them ONLY when they are below 20$- JUST to mainly get the R & G to re-use in a LUMIA PJ or SPIRO - but there are many other leftover parts with uses..

looks clean, hour meter appears maxed out it says, so I have a feeling it may not be in the greatest shape. might be a fun experiment/starter head though. maybe it was re-furbed?

Could be. I know they often run the argon lasers near idle to enhance lifetime... so the hour meter may mean nothing. A quick question to the seller as to where he/she got it from would be useful :beer:
