Entrance slit looks very wide...

For perspective, my Verity has a 500u slit, that gives 2nm resolution/accuracy.

It has an adjustable entrance slit, methinks. There's a dial around the slit that is set at ~5mm in the pictures, but it goes down to <0.5mm.

If anything, you can narrow the slits more with a couple of razor blades :)

SP-127 that fires up but may need alignment.

I am talking to Sam about this one, if he's worked with this seller before. Definitely on my watch list, we'll see what happens. I am interested, but not sure if it's actually out of alignment, or just an unhealthy tube.

So whats the deal with it?

No output?

I could always use 2 of them! :)

No output.

Though in the details it says it needs to be realigned.

That could be true, or it could just be end of life and not lase anymore.

You could use two, but I need one!

I actually have a great need for a healthy brewster tube, a 40" cavity with a brewster window would be perfect! We aren't talking about simple external cavity line gaining or anything like that. Real science going on in my brain here :p

PM me if you're interested :)

Just wanted to give you a hard time.
I'm not serious about this one, just keeping my eyes out for stuff.

Still waiting on the orange first, then maybe some "Bigger" argons or a projector. Who knows.

3 pin long wire mount for laser diodes 20" length, AixiZ

BRB with a pic-

This is a new item at AixiZ a low cost ($3.05)and quick way to test a diode
-
Like a LaserBug with a cord --- BUT I am sure it should NOT be used without being in a heat sink . Even just a blank aixiz module is not enough for more than a few seconds.

So it would need to be pressed or put into one of the diode holders that just screws together and no pressing is needed- I will pick up a few tomorrow and try one out and send the other to Jordan- Used correctly this could save a lot of time when testing 24 diodes.. I wonder if we could attach a Lasorb using one of these.

BTW they are made to work with 5.6 diodes.

HGM Dental Argon Laser 200 | eBay

These argons require additional cooling and some modification to run continuous wave and can output 500mW if you work out the cooling. This one is starting at $50.

Water cooling? Is is still your standard 110V single phase?

Might try to get the seller to take it apart for me, as I am nowhere near Michigan :p

Not water cooled, to my recollection. Air cooling. I think it can do up to 3.2W pulsed, but to convert to CW, it lacks cooling. And the PSU cannot handle 3.2W continuous, though that may go without saying.

It's 220 (two-phase) if I recall correctly. The kind that runs your cooking range, oven and electric dryer here in the states.

Local pickup would be the best option. It may be had for cheap.

It's not 120V single. You can see in the one pic it either uses 208V which AFAIK is always 3 phase or 240V (which IIRC can be multiple phase) but is also single phase and is what you typically would run an electric stove or dryer off of. So to answer your unasked question no, you can't use it in your dorm room :p

HGM is a brand, not a model. HGM sold quite a few different models, and very few of them will do CW. I only know of the model 5 and the model 20. This is neither. The laserFAQ has a bit of info on these for anyone that wants to learn more.
