There has to be someone on this forum, that can make a host like this, for less than $99... It is an awesome host, but damn we have connections here...

Just bear in mind, that steel host is terrible, and I mean terrible, for getting rid of heat. It looks great though.

Those shaft-supports are pretty nice, and you can use more than one of them to increase the stability and heatsinking of longer modules such as a 532nm green modules for pointers.

Four of these arrived today- amazingly quick shipping- they look very well made- there is a little slack but when i find my allen wrench I think it will tighten up just fine. two of these wold make a very professonal looking R+G yellow laser. I would think you would need to use a duty/rest cycle depending upon what lasers and power you used. Thanks again for the tip --I will add a few pics to this post later..hak

Yeah I get that all the time! Hence my signature.

Im bidding on this REO unless the bidder is sa memebr and steps up-
guarenteed to arrive DOA-
very likely NOT an easy fix- noway I can do- but I HAVE friends-

RARE Orange Lightwave Research Laser Chorus Tube 4 95mW HeNe | eBay

I sent this link to Dr Sam- an hour or so later he replied-
He and partner Phil (142Laser) are the ones bidding on it- so its 'taken'(hands off- NO BIDDING please--) so thats cool and we will hear all the details about how this turns out ( If they win it) & if anyone can bring it back to life its Sam & Phil.

If, for some reason I cannot imagine, a LPF member bids on this I would suggest you keep that to yourself- I would never forgive them, & nor would many others here.. Sam's FAQ is free for us to use- he allows use of the info and photos there as long as we give due credit - there are no ads (except for the classified for Sam & Phil) Sam has spent a lifetime of accumulating all the info/data and to bid up or out bid them on this would be a slap in the face.

Its a badge of honor to get something of yours placed at Sam's--Three of us shared a suite with Dr. Sam at SELEM 2011- he is a gentle spirit- humble and a joy to be around. He is our resident expert on gas lasers. He deserves all the respect we can possibly give him..

nibbler-- ' Some A-hole that only wants to see your max bid placed by you. Once he finds that he bids no more- you can see there 'nibbling' by clicking 'see automatic bids'

BTW Ebay just LOVES nibblers- some prolly WORK for ebay-- just one more reason I don't go thru Ebay to place bids- screw FeeBay!!
The more profits they make the more GREEDY They( ebay & Pay(too much)Pal are the same people)become.

Yeah, I hate that sleazebag practice, and I'm sure eBay endorses it, otherwise they wouldn't have that "Second chance" bullshit where the seller can offer the bid to you at your max bid. Those assholes can kiss my ass.

I've been using esnipe for years now... set the max I'm willing to pay, and I leave it. Most of the time I don't win, but I have gotten some great deals that way too.

Basically eliminates the bidding war, and to a degree negates the "nibbler" - never heard that term before.

I use Myibidder Pro on android and love it. It does the same thing and it saves you from all the times you get distracted and miss it. It also lets you make groups so if there is like 5 of the same things you can put them in a group and then choose stop bidding when you win 2 items which is really nice.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

AFAIK my snipe service (the oldest) is located closer to Feebay than any other. (~90 miles iirc) so when they bid for me -the same max and same time as somebody else. -my bid gets there a millisecond quicker.

Mine has NO ads- 7 I trust them with my eekbay PW and don't think they would sell my address. For all that the one cent per dollar 'fee' is well worth all I get in return. Signing up gets you 3 free snipes too. Referrals earn you 3 more (give me your email addy and lets each get 3 free snipes! ;-))

They achieve all my stuff- run searches on what I am looking for- and you can have them bid on items over & over til you win at your desired price. If my max bid is reached before the end they send me emails so I can 'up' my max if I want. I often am watching the auction as it ends while my sniper bids for me. but if I cant be on-line the service is even more valuable.

I would say that I have gotten a dozen+ friends to sign up over the 8 years and not one ever regretted joining.

BUT if there is way Ebay can kill/foil the snipers - be sure they will use it. Lately I have been blocked form contacting other sellers/buyers in HUGE RED FONT- more or less accusing me/us of just talking about going outside FeeBay when that is NOT the case.
At first that just happened when any email addys where trying to be sent but know i don't know what they are using that would trigger some kind of filter like that- if anything, their doing that to me makes me really WANT to screw them every chance I get.

BTW -If you need anything from AixiZ-- BROWSE only at ebay or amazon when you are ready to order go to AixiZ.com or call in your order at the 800 #- nice folks to talk to on the phone- it will be Dr Chuck of the wife Xia maybe their daughter Zi--

Hmm?? Zi--- Xia--
wonder where the name AixiZ came from???

now you know!!(BTW its pronuonced 'ache ziss')

ps by my crude math-- AixiZ has sold, over the years 120,000+ blank AixiZ modules. They have a feedback of 11,000.
AND

The first guy to convince chuck to sell & offer them in bulk- was andrew kibbler phd-aka Dr.Lava.

RARE Orange Lightwave Research Laser Chorus Tube 4 95mW HeNe | eBay

UPDATE

******************

more info from Sam..

This HeNe is not 5+mW the seller is wrong -- it is at best ~1.5mW

Depending upon whether its hard or soft seal the chances are not great that it can be brought back to life.

Sam says they don't think risking more than 50$ on it is a great idea.

This auction has ~one day left and if you see the bidding g much past 50$ feel free to bid. Sam also added that if a forum members win it he would be willing to work on it( I assume for a fair price for his time)

He also says he may know how it was used and that he thinks it has a LOT of hours of use already on it. . He has ATM no Orange HeNes FS but DOES had both green and yellow HeNe FS at Sam's Classified ads.

I know he appreciates those who have choosen to NOT bid him up. But as I say if it goes much over 50$ its free game.

brb w/ links to Sam's other HeNe that ARE FS and come with his personal warranty and a year or two of free repair should you get one from him that fails.

Safety Glasses?!!!

Correct me if i am wrong, but this looks like cheap Red blocking goggles(the green ones in the picture) for 8 bucks! Am I missing something? I need a pair of red blocking goggles but cannot drop 50 bucks to get a Survival Laser Pair.

Thanks,
Isaac

Brief direct 2W 445nm laser passes burnt right into the plastic on these. Short durations burnt through. I would not trust my eyes with these and even dumped them as "Guest" glasses...

Fair enough.... I was hoping to get the red wavelength blocking ones for my 300mW 650nm C6 laser, wouldn't think it would be terrible but I guess I will just have to save up the 50 bucks for an eagle pair :/
