I meant the big open rectangle shaped holes, but yes, I see what you are saying about the threaded holes. I was hoping this unit had a SHG crystal in one of those two gold holders with TEC under them, I expect one is a SHG and the other a vanadate rod.

Vanadate is in the sort of triangular shaped mount. The other one I think you're talking about is a Q-switch. The SHG crystal(s) maybe in the round component that looks sort of like a crystal oven.

There are two separate gold triangle mounts. I believe the oven has a LBO THG crystal in it for UV out. I guess there isn't an intermediary conversion from 1064nm to 355nm, otherwise it wouldn't be a THG, but why two rod holders when DPSS if it has a crystal oven?

There are two separate gold triangle mounts. The oven has a THG crystal in it for UV out. I guess there isn't an intermediary conversion from 1064nm to 355nm, otherwise it wouldn't be a THG.

You mean here?

Might be two separate chunks of vanadate, but likely just one long piece and that's just how the mount is designed. Not going to be a doubler in there.

Operation at 355nm is SFG of 1064nm+532nm, not SHG or THG.

Yep, I was thinking that was vanadate, and the other one feeding the NLO crystal in the oven a SHG. However, it's temperature in that triangle holder isn't as accurately controlled with that TEC under it, so not likely the one feeding the oven has a SHG in it, I suppose. But then, what is that one you circled for?

Disregard, I see it now >> What other one...? There's only the one triangle shaped mount and it's for the vanadate...

Edit: Wait, never mind, I see the second one now. Both are vanadate. Looks like two Z-fold cavities placed end to end for higher power... That's my guess anyway. Be easier if we knew what model/wavelength this was. Be nice to have a picture of the WHOLE head, rather than several pictures of parts of it.

OK, two vanadate crystals which are combined to produce more 1064nm power, I guess. But, the rods are end pumped with 808nm, I believe, or, at least one of them is pumped w/808.. The way the "rod" sits in the holder, it appears they are double end pumped, into each end.

Edit: I can see UV stamped into the aluminum on the output, assuming 355 but I don't know.

Yup, looks like two vanadates, both pumped from both ends.

My guess would be 355nm too. And LOTS of it. Q-switched too.

Once I figured out it has two rods in it, I had to buy it. He accepted 400 dollars with free shipping. I hope to have the death star running in the next two years.

I just now saw this whole conversation. I was in Seattle most of the day and just now got online. That thing is a beast, Chris. From what I can see it looks like it is complete. If it outputs a pulsed 355nm, it could be very intense. I love to see more photos of it when you finally have it back in Alaska.

If it is complete, I probably won't be pulling parts out of it and using it at UV instead, but all of the wires were cut off of the case, so I'd need to add all of my own controls and external IR input.

Same reason you'd have a Q-switch in a laser with a single rod: For Q-switching it!
