Yeah,
I've been watching them, very intresting. Seems the best "fix" for these divergent high power diodes and the ones with clear covers in handhelds are like jewels. I posted these because they were the first ones i've seen including mounting fixture. Thinking seriously about trying my hand at combigning then correcting two nubm 44's.
Thanks for the link

Was just checking this diode out on your site. Really nice, this is the first diode to break the $100 barrier in the 510 threaded modules
Sweet!

Yea may not even end up offering a 22mm 510 option. The diode is case positive so don't know if it is a good idea to have people putting batteries in mods backwards to accommodate it when I do find negative side regulation driver that will work well with the diode. It actually has a pretty crazy pinout.

Lol,
That'll be the cause of a few dead diodes I'd imagine

Well I did notice that you said 200mW on your page Jordan so what is the output at that mark?
I would boldly let buyers know the pin layout for sure.
Are you going to spectro it? I'm going to end up needing one for my collection depending on actual wavelength. Need to see a data sheet on it.

Found a pair of asphers AR coated for 633nm, anyone who wants to make a beam expander for red, these would be great:

This is an interesting lens if you want to either collimate the output of your laser diode, or build a beam expander but it is biconvex. For beam expanders biconvex will certainly work, but PCX better and aspherical best. At 12 inch diameter either have a helper carrying this lens around, or a tripod.

I've been tempted to buy it, but the biconvex aspect of it keeps me from doing so. Although I did offer up to 150 for it, turned me down, wants 190 and 75 dollars shipping. Big lenses are interesting, but if building a monster beam expander better to use a large telescope mirror, generally more accurate surfaces with those and the price of used Dobsonian telescopes can be had fairly cheap with most of the work already done. For all I know, this lens might be 4/Lambda or higher accuracy, if so, then it's a good lens and you wouldn't want to pay the new price, many thousands of dollars.

Diodes would be ~$300, Optics would be ~$350, mounts would be ~$150, and driver/PSU would be ~$150. Shipping might be another $50. That leaves $500 for assembly cost. I could certainly build that in 2 hours - probably less. If I built these full-time, I would be making at least $500k a year. :shhh:

Alaskan, find out if the beam widths and divergences are close to the same, otherwise it will be a poor fuzzy beam over distance.

The price of green diodes has come down substantially since he built a few of these, otherwise I think he would sell them for less. He has invested in machines to make some of the parts as well as his time aligning the optics and all, I don't think turning these out will go quite as quick as it might seem. I will ask Mateusz how many hours he puts into every one of these and report back to you, if it isn't proprietary information, you might see it takes much longer.

RCB, I asked about how well lined up the three colors are for divergence and I was told they were a very good match.

Cyparagon, I've wondered where you went, seems you haven't been nearly as active as in the past. Check out these lasers Jors makes:

Meh, I went camping for a week, and I've been working slightly longer hours because we're busy at work.

They'll be adequate since the reds are expanded. You can also adjust the beam shape by adjusting the focusing lens. A sharp focus would yield a line, while a soft focus would yield a square.

The price of green diodes has come down substantially since he built a few of these, otherwise I think he would sell them for less.

Why is that a good reason? If you buy a car at 20k and it's worth 10k a year later, do you still try to get 20k for it?

I bought a half-watt red diode back when they were $200. They're $40 now. Should I try selling it for $200? :p

I was speculating why his price might be dropping, it only makes sense if you can buy the NDG7475T 1W green for 50% less, or $200 instead of $400 etc., you would charge less. How much less, that's another question but I have an answer! Expect the units to soon drop in price by about 25 percent . You are right about how long it takes to build one, except he mills a lot of his own parts so perhaps a day per unit is what I'm thinking, but my question was not directly answered, I wouldn't either. However he did state the problem is not how long it takes to turn them out, the problem is finding buyers.
