The Gball on the nubm07e makes a 25mm x 50mm spot at 5 meters, rather huge compared to the nubm06 that makes a 25mm x 7mm line through it's Gball at 5 meters.

The 07e via of it's Gball lens produces a spot over 700% the area of the 06.

However the entire nubm07e block could make a super bright blue searchlight.

Drivers, lots of batteries, tons of waste heat to get rid of, well the price is at least coming down some, it could stand to come down a bit further but it's headed the right way.

I saw it several days ago and I think it is a very old one with a limited spectrum. It also need an interface card to run it on your computer, so you will have that expense as well. It has a #1 grating and if memory serves me correctly, that grating is limited to the higher wavelengths.

Edit: if you want it I'd wait until the auction is over an offer the guy less for it.

At some point, I'd like to have a spectrometer, but not one limited to one end or the other of the vis and IR spectrum.

Yeah, I've been looking for one for a very long time before I finally pulled the trigger. I can't wait to get it back as I didn't have the accurate enough light sources to calibrate it myself. I want it as accurate as I can possibly get it.

Edit: I actually got it backwards. The #1 grating is for use in the UV spectrum.

What do you all think of this offering for a Ocean Optics spectrometer?

Ocean Optics S2000 Spectrometer Works Great I Just Used It Today | eBay

For $500 you can get a good one from science surplus with a 365-910 (2nm) or 365-1100nm (3nm)

Spectrometers - Science-Surplus

If you can calibrate your own, you can get if for $199.00

Compact Fiber Coupled CCD Spectrometer Kit DIY | eBay

Mariomaster and a few others have them, they are decent. Mario calibrated his own, so if I remember correctly his is off a little bit at some points in the spectrum but only a few nm

I don't know the specs on the Ocean one but from the other posts it isn't full spectrum, OTOH it might have better rez.

I personally wouldn't want a spectrometer that is accurate to 3nm. But, I suppose if one can live with that and also has the necessary light sources to calibrate it themselves, it isn't the worst deal I've seen.

Thanks for spectrometer info folks, one of these days I will pull the trigger on one. Here's some optics which might be of interest to someone, he is taking offers: Laser Optics Mounts Mirrors Lenses System Lens Lab Newport | eBay - Anyone know what this might be from and why the steerable optic?

Edit: I'm adding this item of interest too: RGB-3000mW-TTL-System Laser: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RGB-3000mW-...-638nm-Laser-1000mW-520nm-Laser-/141956697605

Has anyone in this group purchased one of these? I've heard some of the cheaper China produced combined laser RGB white producing modules didn't last very long. Looking at the photo's from the listing, the unit is fairly small and if the drivers were taken off the top and moved in-line with its length, this might fit into a rather large, but manageable laser pointer. The Fenix TK75 flashlight might make a good host platform for this with its 3 inch diameter output, I think... if you could find someone like Ehgemus or CDBEAM777 to modify one for you. You can see a photo of a knife edged TK75 Ehgemus built for me in my avatar photo's. Here's a ebay link to the TK75: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fenix-TK75-...ht-Cree-XM-L2-U2-LED-4000-Lumen-/222091225489

It's a pair of scanning galvonometers. It could be from an engraver, a confocal microscopy system, a projector, or several other esoteric devices.

I personally wouldn't want a spectrometer that is accurate to 3nm.

3nm is the resolution. The accuracy would be closer to +/- 1nm. The "spike" in the graph is 3nm wide at minimum, but you can still look at the peak of this spike. Each of the pixels map to about half nm, but the resolution isn't listed as half nm because of some spillover to other pixels.

If you can calibrate your own, you can get if for $199

No. Not quite. Calibration is easy if you have basic knowledge of 3rd degree polynomial regression lines, and a CFL or other known-spectra lamp. The one you've linked is one that also needs alignment. Alignment is VERY difficult and literally takes several hours of patiently tweaking screws. I've aligned one for lazeerer, and it's a bitch.

Cant give Techhood high marks for proof reading 16,000 mW of BLUE?? really?
First time I saw Techhood I found gross errors- sent messgs- did thank me BUT never made the corrections.. They and Lazylands are killing USA based companies selling the same basic line. I have doubts it is spec- and heard also of short lives in their RGBs.

if only there was a platform similar to aliexpress/ebay but specifically for the laser hobby community.... soon
