Expander looks like a good one but kinda big to hang on the end of a laser pointer, if that is your project, unless you like monster sized pointers like I do, that is. Important to know the size of the beam width you want to shoot through it so you know whether at 10X the output lens is big enough when your beam is expanded that much. The diameter of the input lens must be larger than the beam of your laser too, of course, but this one appears to have a huge input, no issue there. An input lens that big is awesome for some of the multimode 520nm laser diodes, but I'm not sure how much attenuation or loss you would get at 520, vs the 532nm/1064nm it is coated for. If you think you could use it, snap it up, that's a cheap price for that kind of quality, even used, new it would cost far too much for a hobbyist. If you buy it and for some reason (other than there is something wrong with it) you don't want to keep it, I will buy it off you for that price later, as long as you take care of the coatings.

yeah man I feel like I cant beat the price on it. I have my doubts with it though. Id like to experiment with some others before I grab one as big as this.. Where do you get yours from? or do you build your own? I seen a guy use a regular telescopic camera lens or something like it. I could just be wrong on that lol..

I bought one expander from laserlands on ebay but was very disappointed, instead of the 40mm output lens shown in the photograph, they sent me one with a 30mm lens. Clearly, they were misrepresenting what they were selling, it was even built differently. Most of my expanders come from ebay, I have about ten of them now, one as large as 160X with a 6 inch diameter output lens, only problem with that one is I can't push a beam wider than about 1mm through the input lens, it is so small. Other than the host I had built for me which has a beam expander built into it I posted about in the Host section, I haven't built anything myself but I've been collecting lots of lenses to do so. You can buy a cheap telescope and use it as a beam expander, I've done that, but the input lens might need to be changed out to get the expansion right.

Hey, for the purpose of DC HeNe power supplies instead of using a "wall wart" that is set To a specific voltage and amperage output could you use a variable bench DC supply for the same purpose?
I have a 15V / 3 amp at my house in Maine but here in Illinois I don't have one. Hmm just a thought.
I was thinking of upgrading anyways because my bench supply 3A was tapped out when I was testing some of the 9mm diodes with boost drives.

Probably kind of nice (can't see the shipping cost coz I'm not in the US):
Microvision Showwx Laser Projector | eBay
It's a pico projector with some nice stuff in it (Direct doubling green module, and 2 3.8, one red and one blue, dichros). Could probably be used for a DIY white build. Item location is Maumee, Ohio. :)

BTW Im bidding on this. Not for the diodes inside but for the projector- they are some of the better pico projectors out there and don't pop up very often.

someone please look at this crazy Sh** I'm very tempted to msg this guy.
Wicked Laser 445nm 3 Watt | eBay

this is what I sent to him
This is crazy. You bought a S/S survival laser host that cost 48$ and probably using a 9mm NDB7875 diode -90$ with X-drive or super boost driver. Which my friend probably built. I'm seeing a 25$ copper heat sink and a 15$ coned focusing head! does this even have a G-2 lens? Hell for this price I hope it has a G-9 lens. please tell me why you choose to sell a 200$ laser (that's if your using all top quality parts) for over 1,000$ I posted this listing on laser pointer forums I hope you get a lot more messages. Dude for this price you could build a 4w 520nm and still have money left over.
