Nix my earlier post on the 3 watt 532nm laser being sold on ebay, they edited the page with a statement that no returns for as is items. I wouldn't take a risk on it as a working laser anymore with that change.

If this seller s a forum member, they should stop making and selling lasers on eBay. It's kinda sorta illegal, and sooner or later you will get nailed for it (ask Rick Trent).

If this seller s a forum member, they should stop making and selling lasers on eBay. It's kinda sorta illegal, and sooner or later you will get nailed for it (ask Rick Trent).

Also, pretty sure that's not a G2 lens.

Yep, FDA cracked down on him. Took down his website and everything. Thats why he hasnt been around, I assumed he just left the hobby for his own legal safety reasons.

Also, pretty sure that's not a G2 lens.

I think I will give them another week or so to remove the listing before I report it.

I think that is really the seller's business, if he wants to get caught I think that's really up to him.

You could at least try to contact him and let him know. before you report him (through eBay and not through the forums)

Honestly the seller might not even know he is doing anything illegal.

I agree with ThegreaterWatt. Don't rat the guy out without at the very least contacting him and telling him you will if he doesn't stop. That's only right.
Is he supposed to have a liscense from the FDA to sell lasers to the public?

No such 'liscense' exists--makers/operators/sellers/importers of laser projectors class 3 and 4 in USA are required to apply for & hold a variance-AFAIK all these 'rules' apply to handhelds as well.

Rick is NOT the first here to be 'shut down' by the FDA. I knew it was only a matter of time..

The even bigger risk is selling class 3 or 4 to minors--

both Greedbay and Poop Pal do not allow sales of portable lasers over 5 mW.
Sellers ATM are getting around the 'rules' selling these as 'kits'-- I
doubt that doing that will be tolerated for very long.
I feel strongly about SAFETY but would never report anything like this to EEKbay- low blow=hk

^^^ sell as kits-or don't sell ALL the needed parts --like others do-sell ALL but the host for example--doing that adds some 'distance' between legal and not legal-

Except the discussion here started before that thread existed...Its a relevant discussion on a public forums, there has been far worse in this thread, not sure why everyone has there underpants in a bunch.
