Be weary of this seller: link
I inquired as to his listing of a projector, asking for simple proof of it working. He declined for whatever reason, saying (my reputation should prove..." the same old BS I have heard numerous times before. I don't give a rats left asscheek what your reputation says, if you are too lazy to post proof of what you are selling is legitimate, then you are a crappy seller. I asked again, and this time he deleted my bid, saying "I know when there will be trouble."

Yea, right.
I fully suspect that projector doesn't work. If you want to bid on it, good luck, hope you can it get it for cheap, but that moron is getting none of my business.

Intentional double post (deleted first post)

A really cool item- a single Brewster window REO tube with an assortment of mirrors. And he has 2 of them :)
HeNe Laser One Brewster Laser Kit Hobbyist Special External Cavity HeNe Laser | eBay
And he has two of them. He certainly seems to know what he's talking about, and the price seems completely fair for what it is. Wish I had the cash!

I think that seller is Dr. Sam. Would fit the bill, and I think he went by Silicon Sam outside of the photonics industry.

That would make sense. I knew I had heard that name before. Doesn't the good Doc have an eBay using the laserFAQ name though?

CS, Don't hate on me for this, but, I totally understand where the seller is coming from.

Ebay 100% protects the buyers not the sellers. I myself sell quite a few mobile phones on ebay, there are an unending source of idiots who buy an item, then message me a short while later saying "charges a little slow doesn't it" or some other stupid thing,..I don't know? I didn't design the effing thing. Then a case gets opened ect ect.
I as a seller, put EVERYTHING I know about the item in the original listing, and I make it clear. If that information isn't enough for you to make a decision whether to bid, then walk away, there are 100's of other buyers behind you waiting to buy the item. I sold an SSD with NO WARRANTY, no returns under any circumstances, if you don't agree to this, walk away, some smarta$$ messaged me asking "what if it got damaged in the post ect"...I immediately blocked him from bidding, there are plenty of other people to buy it. and I suspect this seller has the same attitude. Yes it sucks, but us sellers have to protect ourselves, as ebay doesn't, in any way.

Regards

I completely understand what you are saying. But wouldn't you agree, posting proof of something working is just common sense?

Oh for sure, he may well be hiding something. What you asked wasn't unreasonable.

I think he only uses that one for his official sales. I've bought from him many times over the years (not on ebay) and some things go straight to his paypal, others go to one of the universities or to someone at one of the universities.

Your asking price for the HL-532 is almost $40 higher than brand new retail...

Not to mention hes circumventing the BST restrictions.
edit: meant to neg him, accidentally plus repd him.

I've done that, I hate when that happens...

Thanks. I originally removed it to make my posts smaller, but I got a few requests to bring it back updated. And it's also hence enough to get new people to understand "I knows mah shiz" and not neg me... Like someone I know ... :na:

LATE EDIT: I just saw that they are now listing these AS IS and NO WARRANTY with this statement just added: RETURNS NOT ACCEPTED ON ITEMS LISTED "AS IS" OR "FOR PARTS & REPAIR". I no longer recommend buying this with that statement edited into the sale.

I've bought one of these from this seller and it worked fine, others have and they had to send it back. If it works, a great deal but you will need two separate TEC controllers to control the crystal and diode temperatures within range along with a constant current 20-25 amp 2-2.2+ VDC power supply. IF I remember correctly, the system is pumped with a 20W 808nm bar IR diode array inside.

Jenoptik Jenlas D2 3 Watt 532nm Green Laser Head w Heatsink Tested 3W 6W Max | eBay

It says 6 Watts Max on the side but I am not so sure that really applies to this laser, the manual I have says 3/5 watts and it might do that much but I'm not sure it is rated to do 5 on a continuous basis. I was able to get mine running and it burned a hole in some wood pretty darn fast, but I didn't measure the output. For a visual WAG mine seemed to be doing about 5 watts at 25 amps of current which was pushing its rating by a few amps. My unit was marked by the factory on a sticky label to produce 3 watts at 19 amps/2 volts when the crystal was warmed to 30C, the diode also labeled to need to be at 30C but some units will need different temperatures to keep the diode on frequency and the crystal at its highest efficiency. Here's a link to a install manual:

http://photos.imageevent.com/qdf_fi...serproject/D2.x Installation Instructions.pdf

For some background on this seller, they know very little about lasers and their test is only to see if it will make a little bit of green light at minimal current without having either the diode or the crystal at temperature! My guess is they will take an offer of 500 based on other offers they have accepted in the past for this kind of price, maybe much lower AS IS.

Another warning: I don't believe they test all of them, one member here reported receiving one without anything inside it, nothing, a bare chassis. That said, I bought one of these and another 2.5 watt halfnote 532nm laser from them and they both worked fine. Also, be aware that they won't work without two TEC controllers and they don't come with them.

If you buy this, get it tested ASAP.

Laser Project, nice find. I was always impressed by some of the lasers you have had in the past. I'd rep you, but I can't do it again right now.

Thanks, after posting this I am now seeing a no return statement added to the page so I'm editing this post as well. I no longer recommend buying it if they won't stand behind it.

Just to confirm, siliconsam is Dr. Sam. I've bought from him before.
