That HeNe looks like the one I got from ultimatekaiser's GB for $25. Very nice laser but a little overpriced.

Kinda. Same length, but a double encap style one not a belljar style.

The 6 inch ones use to be very common. I use to have about 6 or 7 of them. Like someone said they are from barcode scanners. I think I still have 1 or 2 around somewhere. I would run them on a 8 aa battery pack 20 years ago long before laser pointers.

I hope this is not a contribution that is a duplicate from someone else. Techhood has the Oclaro # HL63193 700mW 635nm laser diode cheaper than I have seen it before. It is selling for $45.99 new with free shipping on eBay. It is listed as item # 141244218380. I think the link is Oclaro HL63193 638nm 700mW Laser Diode 1 Piece | eBay. These can be driven at 1 watt and normally go for around $58.00.

You might as well get it from DTR for 1 cent more at $46. :D (Link)
Although it appears that the Mit's 500mW (Link) may still be better,
According to DTR's tests it looks to be 10% better at a given current (at least for the diodes he tested).

I was unaware of that price drop. I just looked at the listing on the sig. You're right, that is a better price and less of a wait, too. The Mits can be had for $80.99 for two diodes if you are interested in getting two.

In case anyone is interested in two of the 500mW Mitsubishi diodes that can easily be driven at 1 watt. Techhood has them at Mitsubishi 635nm 638nm 500mW ML501P73 02 Orange Red Laser Diode 2 Pcs | eBay

Just a side note... in my experience I have bought from both laserlands and techhood on eBay, and paid my PP to the *same* email...

I believe you mean Techhood and Newgazer. Laserlands is a different company with a different PP addy.

The seller is a member here. He posted about this unit not too long ago. Looks like his first auction at it didn't sell. It was a decent price for it, but these types of items are truly niche, and often if you want to move it in any finite amount of time you won't be able to get what it is actually worth.

Your right Sig it's definitely a niche and not many will pay what it's worth :( I wish I had the money for it. I do love gas lasers
