Okay folks - Rat Shack (Radio Shack) has the Master Replicas Force-FX Lightsaber kits on CLEARANCE ! I picked one up for $42.00 and change - you can make TONS of different styled lightsabers with this kit - I had to get it - of course the wifey was, " What the hell are you going to do with THAT ?" LOL ! Women...sigh...they just will never understand the inner geekliness of men :) Just thought I would let you all know !

You betcha ! MSRP for them is between $129.99 and $99.99 !!! THAT is why I couldn't resist it - my wife thinks I am nuts <she COULD be right ! LOL> These are not "knock-offs" either - genuine Master Replicas Force-FX lightsabre - pretty cool, with a flick of a switch, you can change it from blue to red to green ! WOOO-HOOO ! Makes all the cool sounds, and everything ,too :p

Man!  I bought one for $100 about 5 months ago!  Oh well, I just might have to get another (everybody needs two!)

no... why...?
and i still dont know, whats the difference between this and the 6 dollar light up lightsaber i can buy at Toys R Us?

Polycarbonate "blades" that light up - they do the "power up" and "power down" effects really nice - the sound fx is very cool - they are BRIGHT as hell - and are just more geek toys for collecting :) I have a lot of robots, too - never had a lot of toys as a kid...NOW I CAN ! Muahahahahaha ! <Yes, dear...I'll buy that ring since I got that lightsabre...no, dear...it's not worthless....honey ? Keep that up, I'm puttin IR bars into it, and we will see how well it slices...>

hey, can I inject some techie hypothesizing/fantasizing into your thread? Why, thank you...

Seems like it should be possible to make a real laser saber - maybe some configuration of beams that are non-interfering until a certain distance is traversed. Like just out of phase, but then n wavelengths away they are 180deg or whatever, so they cancel each other out at that point.

All I need to do is figure out how to make that happen... :-?

There is a guy named Cheyenne who sells "laser sabers" - it was designed to be used with any Wicked laser - works fine for CNI types, too - so you can change the color by changing the laser - he makes the hilts, the blades, etc - you supply the laser <it fits inside the hilt> They are pretty cool, actually - although I KNOW that is not what you meant :)
