I have one of these red pointers. I got it from DX. It is a piece of shit. It may as well be made of aluminum foil.

With new batteries it can produce up to 15mW.

$2.22 for a foil tube (with a crappy laser in it) shipped half way around the world? I guess that's not a bad price.

Over-exaggerate much? The body is fine. I wouldn't stomp on it or run it over with my car, but I'm 100 percent certain it can hold up to the *EXTREME TORTURE* of sitting on a coffee table and playing with a cat or using for a PowerPoint presentation......

When I press the button, the module pops out the front.
I dented the tube by dropping my plastic phone on it from a few inches.
The tail cap sucks... the threads are almost nonexistent and turn into dust every time I change the batteries.
And to top it all off, the lens becomes dislodged from the pressure of the spring so it "unfocuses" itself over time.

Yeah, the only item on the list of "pros" is that it turns on. DX should have paid me for storing their garbage at my house... Not that everything from DX sucks this much.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, your opinion, man. :p

Seriously though, how rigorous of QC do you expect on something for 2 dollars shipped from China? Your story aside, *Mine* is fine. Mine also wasn't from DX it was from priceangels (not that either are better than the other for alot of things.)

The junky quality isn't opinion. ;)

I never said I expected more than what I received. Just stating my impressions.
As a pointer? It works.
Although it is quite possible that it could fall apart in my pocket just from walking around.

This is what I found as well. Lotus could just be lucky and got one with decent threads. Some I had felt like more of a friction fit than a threaded fit.

I was just under the assumption that everyone knew that the REALLY cheap things from China are often a crapshoot. Just like things from the dollar store in the US.
