New Lab Housing with Fan for <$20

Hey All,

I found this today wail doing another ebay laser run.

If it is direct press which iam thinking it is since in the description it does not say Module and only says its suitable for 5.6mm.

It does not come with a lens but it takes the M9 Nut size that we use so no modification needed.

Its not Focusable but i think i might be able to make a adapters.:beer:


If you guys are interested ill order one and review it like the last Lab housing so you can get a better idea if its what you are looking for.

Just got this In the mail Guys. Final Right.


So here are the Picture of it and ill talk about it at the bottom.

Front End.


This is Just something to make the Product look finish and not just a Open hole in the front.


Back End where the Heatsink goes in.


Its very Small.




The Heatsink. Its a very nice tight fit. Very Nice.! Still need setscrew though.


Heatsink when all the way in sits a little passed flush.


Here is the Heatsink and this side is where you screw the lens in.


Here is the back side of this with the Cool Diode Holder/mount or whatever its called. Its not a Direct press heatsink like i thought. You put the diode in and then this screws behind it to hold it in a tight fit. IT does an OK Job.


The Fan. I think its good enough for this size of a module. Its also not too loud but its up there.

I was Expecting it to be a little bigger then what it is but i think with the Fan it will work just fine.

I have not built anything in it yet because they decide not to give me a set screw to hold the heatsink in.:wtf: No Problem though i can drill and make my own.

The heatsink fits like a glove in the Housing. They could not have done better Job then they did without making its tight that you will need a vice to press it in. Its a Perfect fit.! Iam very happy to see that.

There diode holder setup is also not all that bad. you can really screw it in Tight enough where i fee comfortable saying that it will be close in comparison to a Press fit heatsink. It might even be better honestly because with the holder its also cover some of the back part of the diode too. I would say just be careful when screwing it in so it doesn't become offset. The Threads for the Diode holder side are tight but there is some play. Also Please be very carefulwith the diode pins.! Make sure you insulate them. The hole where the wire goes threw is Small and i can see that causing an issue with the diode leads touching together.

Also want to mention that the aluminum they are using is a different Grade. I dont know my metal but it feels different then any other aluminum that i used or any aluminum heatsinks that i bought from members on the forum. I dint know if thats a bad thing but i thought i would mention it.

The Threads for the Lenses are Nice. Better then a Aixiz Module but there is also still a Little side to side play. No problem though a little plumber tape and that solves that.

The Fan is Nothing Crazy like those in the Ca$*0 Projectors but i think it will get the job done. Its a little loud but not as bad as again the Ca$*0 projector ones.


For the Price of the Unit i think IMHO its a Good Unit. This may change after i get it running but for now i think it will be good for a small Lab project and since there is ~25mm of play room from the Aperture to the inside of the heatsink that holds the diode and lens you might be able to do a correction setup if the optics you are use to correct are short Focal Length.

No Problem. I knew you where waiting on the Update.

I will have it built tonight and ill post photos and few Long Stability tests.

IMO--Modding it by boring holes though to allow more air to be pulled thru the inside of the HS would be easy and a plus.


I will push my friends at AixiZ to stock these and thus allow quick shipping and the AixiZ one year warranty.

MAYBE even a little cheaper or free shipping to CONUS.

Thats a Great Idea Hak if Aixiz can carry these. Maybe a GB to kick it off.:wave: Ill be in for a couple.

I dont know about putting the holes in. There is not enough room in this heatsink and housing. I do have 1 and another coming. I will see if i can think of a way to try this Just have to see where to put the holes."Any Ideas.?" But I think that would work much better though. Maybe it will work on the larger version of this heatsink that comes with the C-mount heatsink instead of the screw to hold in the diode.

4 contacts would make the heat transfer even worse not to mention aixiz modules are nickel and brass iirc....

but hopefully AixiZ will offer pontiacg5 copper modules soon. How much worse 4 contacts would make is AFAIK either unknown or not a big deal if you consider good thermal paste and the fan. IMO this one and one with a 12mm opening would both be nice to have.

Its free shipping if you get them from Techood using the link in the OP.

Ive been buying from them for a very long time now and are great people. There shipping though takes longer then others.

I hope we can get AixiZ to offer these and the similar ones. Cant beat that 2/3 day delivery and the AixiZ one year warranty.
