Mitsubishi ML520G54 - 110mW SM 635nm $60

I have one of those arriving any day now. Newgazer is great - reputable, knowledgeable, totally endorse them.

Thanks for letting me know that. It looks like we should be getting the correct item then. Do you have a build planned already? It would be nice to see a build with one of these before I get home.

Nope. To be honest, it's not *really* the diode that I'm excited to find.

I'd like to get my hands on the 180mW single mode Mitsubishi.

I've played with the Opnext HL63133DG, and it was only capable of being pushed to around 200mW safely. But for some reason, something has been biting at my gut for months - telling me that the Mits single mode 180s are going to be more overdrivable than the equivalent Opnext diode.

I have nothing to substantiate that gut feeling, but it has been killing me. For whatever reason, I can't escape the gut instinct that those 180mW Mits SM diodes are going to be able to do 250 or 300mW.

Hopefully it is tougher than the Opnext diodes. I really just have not had good experiences with their diodes. They were way to sensitive. Even the multimode 250mW diode dies just a small amount over the rated current when the Mitsubishi 300mW could take 1.5A without suffering immediate damage.

Not this 110, no. But I'd be up for running a murder fund if we can find a mits 180.

RHD, what is the name of the Mitsubishi 180mW single mode? I just know the 150mW HLD635150E4J as the highest outputting 635nm single mode diode.

I'll be glad just to have something more than 10mW in single mode. It's been a while since I've seen ~635 other than my HeNe. The "pen" in my sig is at mom mom's house somewhere. Who knows where it went. It was sitting on top of the dreeser in the room I slept in.

I'll try to get an eye out for some of the higher powered ones.

^ I would be able to sell you a single mode 635nm with the 40mW Sanyo diode inside

This is kind of neat.

We've got a single mode 635 nm that corresponds with the 635 nm, like how the 450 nm single mode blue corresponds with the 445 nm multimode blue.

It's nice to be able to choose between power or beam specs. :D
