I had not read the instructions, I plopped the battery into it, played a bit with it and seen a smaller "low battery" (only)
flashing in the corner so I put it on the charger and THEN started reading the instructions.
Yes, it did state that you are to charge the battery for 4 hours before using it.
I will search google for posts related to this "Critical" error or will try to contact MicroVision to ask about resetting it.

I offer $26 shipped for the cables, battery and charger to anyone that wishes to regain money lost in case they have a problem and loose during experimentation.

I can't get mine to work with my old 5.5G video ipod. If I try to play a picture slideshow I get a "video not supported unknown 99Hz" error.
Plug and play my foot. I haven't even modified this ipod in any way...
Also, there seems to be some horizontal static on mine. It's noticeable in standard mode and completely intolerable in inverted mode. Is anyone else seeing those lines?

Was it with a composite video input you see those lines?
My pico projector only works with a composite input now, and I can sort of see what you may be experiencing.
I had the VGA 99Hz problem myself. That's where I discovered iPod and VGA input would no longer work. When connecting to an iPod, you usually don't get an unknown video error, so that's odd.

I know. I just bought the HDMI version. Not to pull apart though (although that may happen anyway).

Heheh, they are cool little gadgets, I don't think it's really worth pulling them apart if you only have one!
Makes me sad mine doesn't work properly
No reply from the eBay seller yet. If worse comes to worse, I do have a way of repairing this one, but not gonna open it up until I try for a warranty replacement at least.

It's probably not worth taking these apart now that we can order single-mode blue 3.8mm diodes for ~$70, and 635nm reds that are more powerful than the one in this projector, again, for about $70.

Rayfoss - 445nm 80mW OPNEXT Blue High Power LD
Similar - it's Opnext instead of Osram, but similar. Need a 3.8mm mounting module though.

Awesome! Has anybody tested them yet? If they are manufacturer rated for 80mw CW then they can probably go a good bit higher than that, considering that we often run diodes at or over their max pulsed power.

From the manufactures stand point thats very clever, instead of making pin point optical adjustments, just write some code for the mems to adjust for it. I was kinda hoping it scanned all three colors in one pass, they sure make it sound like its done that way you see their product videos.
