Some great bargains to be had at StoneTek right now - I have new suppliers for sleds, so prices are lower - I've dropped my other diode supplier, as his prices were inflexible...when I could buy stronger diodes for almost HALF what he was charging me ? BAH ! Good riddance. Anyways, I'm back (STILL a day later than I said, sorry Jay !) and since I am not having any more surgeries, hope to not be gone for long stretches again :-) To answer anything asked, or wondered about, no - the problems are not fixed, simply am not taking any more chances with doctards, and surgeries.

I THINK that this sale blows away anyone else's prices, as long as you buy more than one sled... Help me make a personal goal for sales today, (this is for anyone !) and I KNOW you will be more than satisfied ! As a matter of fact, I'll guarrantee (not promise my spelling is correct !) that you WILL get a better deal at my shop TODAY, than any other forum advertised price as of the time of this post. So - what's my goal ? It's, buy TWO, get ONE free - not buy one, get one....although if your order is one of the ones that "mysteriously" gets DOUBLED, then...well, I'm not going to pretend to do the math - YOU figure it out ! BUT...for example, if you buy two, you get a total of THREE...if your order is DOUBLED (it's random, not by request !!!) then you would actually receive SIX FOR THE PRICE OF TWO ! HOLY CRAP THIS GUY IS INSANE ! Hehehe...had to throw in that last part :P So...it COULD BE better than buy one, get one. Just depends on random chance. Fixed the post - thanks for catching my error ! There is NEVER any special shipping charges when shopping with StoneTek ! The only time there is ANY charge, is if you wish to have Priority, or EMS shipping - then you must purchase those. Otherwise, ALL packages are shipped for free, worldwide using USPS First Class / Air Mail. Delivery confirmation numbers are given free of charge for domestic US addresses, but in order to get any type of tracking number for overseas folks, you have to purchase the EMS option.

Just received mine today. Great deal, thanks! I like the business cards too. I extracted one of them from its sled but not the heat sink yet. It took me awhile to get the ribbon off of the diode, I hope that I didn't kill it. First time working with open can diodes.

I will hopefully be offering "removed" diodes soon I just need to find an economical way to do it, without outsourcing the labor, since I am incapable of handling a soldering iron as of yet.

I did have to hold my iron on there for a while but its only 4-14 watts, I will have to test it tonight.

Hmmmm.... well, the BEST way to do it is to use high heat, and short times. What matters here is the amount of heat transferred to the diode from the soldering iron. If you are oding ANY soldering, and do not have any paste flux - SHAME ON YOU ! You gotta have the right tools to do this hobby, and paste flux is INVALUABLE ! The way to use it is like this : slather on a little bit on the solder joint you will either be making, or removing. It allows for much better heat transfer from the iron to the solder. It can get mess as hell, just be careful. Hope this info helps ! Oh, and those, "Nay-sayers" in regards to solder paste, SHHHH ! Be nice ! It is PERFECT for beginner through advanced, and beyond ! If you didn't know that, then you know it now !

Although I cannot myself solder anything right now, I am full of advice (hey, be nice !) in regards to it, because I CAN solder, just not now, is all (too shaky from the after effects of my surgery, and medicines).

Well, I hooked it up to my rckstr driver set at 360mA and it was very bright, so I didn't kill it. I then took it out of its heat sink and retested it, still very bright. I turned down the amps a bit, tested. Turned it back up and it still worked. Then the next test it was very dim. In the end I think all my testing is what fried it. good experience though for when I get some goggles and laser module.

If you were testing it out of it's heat sink, that could have fried it. The diodes get HOT fast if you don't have them heatsinked.

read this thread for some mentions of the flat red diodes being killed by loss of heatsinking just during testing.
