Yeah I forgot about the IR's, I was basically talking about a green. I forget about IRs since I don't want a laser that is that powerful and I can't see the beam, I might lase myself accidently!

I bought one, the stupid noob I was, it was my first and I'll always remember it. But for the price, it's not bad for what I'm assuming is around 200 - 300 mW. It's focusable, and has a really nice, beam. I can pop balloons up to about 3 meters away. I'll post a few pics later.

Sorry to say, but I'm sure it's power is less than 200-300mW. 200-300mW would still be a steal at this price. My guess (based off of past reviews as well as my own personal collection) would be maybe 150mW total (including IR) and even less of pure green. That is not to say though that you got ripped off - just think about how much it would cost to build a nice laser like this - you would need the heatsink, the host, the diode, and the driver. Getting it all built in such a nice host (which some people would pay over $40 for) makes it still a fair deal. I just hope the laser lasts you a long time, and perhaps post a review about it in the reviews section so that everyone can see the quality of the host, the beam, etc.

And if there is a lesson to be learned - don't trust anyone with a power rating who isn't using a LPM! You can't guess with decent accuracy the power of any laser with your eyes, regardless of what people say (unless you have a few KNOWN power lasers you are comparing it to).

I would be very wary of lasers being sold at sites like DHGate, Trade-Tang and the like. They boast lasers with outputs up to 5000 mw (5 Watts) and there's no way these can be the real deal. I was suckered into a 4000 mw unit and the output power was probably more in the neighborhood of 40 mw. The beam didn't even feel warm in my hand. 1000 mw is probably the most powerful thing you are going to get from any of these sites. Just my 2 cents

eh. its amazing. To do upgrades, all these guys have to do is up the numbers in the description. 4 watts out... What's that, a 20 watt pump diode? 6 amps current?

hmm. no.

@aryntha
from a single 18650. ;)

btw man, you have a thread/pic of all your lasers on at once, like a rainbow? It makes 1 year in this month I started lurking into LPF, and I just loved your sig when I first saw it. So colorful. ;)

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get those "1.5Watt" green pens? I see the links to DHgate are no longer valid.

:thanks: Tool
Anyone who can actually put a sentence together?
PS: Tell your mother I said hey!

See attached images of this pen running at 1A in my scanner. I have taken it to 1.5A without a problem. No idea what mW output but well iimpressive for a pointer which cost $100.

Problem is the person I bought it from got it in Bangkok from a little store and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet??

Hah, amusing reply :p

Anyway,

I seriously doubt you're getting anything over 200mW out of that pen.

And if you are getting 200mW out, you are a very lucky person... for a short time, before the pen burns out from excessive current.

It's simply the efficiency of the whole system that makes it impossible to go beyong 150 reliable milliwatts in a 2x AAA pen system, batteries and heatsinking being primary limitations. That's why it's designed in lower powers.
