You know in hindsight I should have just had you hang on to one of those green hotlights. I know you said you didn't want to mess with them before, but I eventually need to find someone that will make me something to fit some green modules in there.

I don't have any intention of selling them though, only going to try and do something with them for gifts. (With low power greens in them)

Hey Moh,

Just a heads-up, the checkout page doesn't work with Canadian addresses. It won't let me get past step 1.

I bought a couple of things from you yesterday, but it barely totaled $10, so I didn't use the discount code, because I didn't want to kill your profit.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep it simple.
I found out how to work the attribute & options controller so that will come in handy for the custom heat sink option. It will have a series of drop down boxes where you choose the diameter & length range of your heat sink (rough idea), whether it has any steps or it's pure cylindrical, and based on that it will give you the price for your heatsink as well as discount for buying say 5 or more.

So a person could go on there, choose to have a heatsink made that was less than 1" in diameter, with one step on it and pay $15 for 1, or buy 5 and pay $10ea. (aurora HS in my mind)
Then they ship me their host with their order number written in the envelope and i make the heat sinks and mail it back to them.

Awesome site Matt, I'm glad you got it up and running.

Also, I do believe you should have a few direct press heatsinks available, even if you just make like five or ten of them as a trial to see how they sell. With high power 405's and 445's, I think they'll sell good. I for one never use aixiz modules with any of my builds anymore, Direct Press FTW!

Ditto :D

When I do use aixiz modules I put some thermal pate between the diode to module and between the module to the heatsink....

No matter how polished the two surfaces are there are still air gaps and air doesnt conduct heat very well...

Agreed. In fact, I don't even know why aixiz modules are so accepted on these forums. When I first joined a couple of years ago, I was all like "yeah, aixiz modules are so awesome and convenient!". While that might hold true for like PHR's, they suck for anything drawing more than 100mA.

Really?

It's not much of a mystery to me. Most of us don't have the ability to fabricate our own heatsinks, and most of the people making heatsinks don't offer press-fit as an option. Perhaps because many of them don't have M9x0.5 taps, or perhaps because it's more work to fabricate.

One way or another, most of us don't have much ability to move away from Aixiz modules.

Mystery solved ;)

EDIT: What I can't figure out, is why they're still making Aixiz modules out of steel... ?
