God damnit- I wasted my entire study period trying to get this shit to work. And if they only got like 100 orders in the first hour, how did they get the other 900 in the second? I call shenanigans.

And even with the Free Day being over, I STILL can't get into their site.

I noticed around the time my order got placed that the website started to speed up. It seems like suddenly more people started getting through. I was able to get to my order history page in only two tries and then after that I got to a product page in the first attempt.

I started to get through around 1 hour after the beggining.
I went through the 4 pages in 10 minutes, and LAST PAGE, the very last page, order_confirmation, refused to load half an hour, until it was over

Same here. I spent a whole day filling my shopping cart and one more( today ) to try this sh*t. I could have revised physics by now if I didn't lose these 2 f** days.

Wow. I spent all yesterday night getting my cart right up to $100, and I didn't even get to finish my english essay. This makes me angry, especially because it was the LAST GOD DAMN PAGE that refused to load, I had just clicked the free day order button when it started not working until the event was over.

Go figure: I can access their website, product listing, account services, etc, all with blazing fast speed...

There is no way it would have NOT completely bogged the site down. Their IRC channel alone had over 2300 people in it (4th largest IRC channel in the world at the time), they had 4 of the top search terms in google, as well as first place. They were getting over 50 million requests per second.

There is no way their datacentre could have even dreamed of coping with that. But, no one should be angry, it was a free giveaway. "I was one click away", and so were 10, 000 other people :p

Same here!!! I set an alarm way back in December to go off at 9 PM the night before to remind me about it but mybphone sucks!!!!! Oh well, sounds like it would've been too difficult anyway.

lol- guess we can't be too mad, it was free, but after all that effort and the fact that I was on within seconds of the event starting, I'm pretty pissed too. Now it just comes down to who has the best prices.
