I saw Sam's posting on this. If I'm not mistaken that laser is a 220VAC 3-phase argon. This is from memory, can anyone confirm it?

Well I e-mailed Sam and he wasn't sure if it was the single phase or 3-phase supply, so he provided me with the e-mail of the guy who actually has them and I'm just waiting to hear back.

it's a different type of power not usually delivered to homes... normal AC current only has two phases, while one wire is positive, the other is negative and vice versa... in three phase power it alternates so while one wire is positive, one is negative and the other's neutral, cycling between them.
three phase power is usually only delivered to factories and other large industrial buildings. To power this laser you may well need a phase converter, which are very expensive.

(note, I don't really know what I'm talking about but that's the gist of it... here's wikipedia with more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-phase_power)

just the power on the 3 phases is 120% out of syn with each other ... if it is 3 phase it is probably like 208 volts or something
