Fasttech 50mW modules?

I noticed that fasttech removed their 50mW modules from their site. I'm wondering if anyone knows any good alternatives that are in the same price range (~$15) and power (Most were about 80mW). I'm planning on mounting one to the bottom of my RC quadcopter and was really disappointed when I saw that they removed them :/

yeah, i suspect that weight would be a factor since you want to put it in on a helicopter, dealextreme states on their website that it weighs 0.63oz which is 17.860185 grams, so if you go with techhoods module it will very likely weigh the same. double check both websites before asking questions, you may just answer them yourself :) hoped this helped

I could fly around and pop balloons with it...?
What can go wrong? ;)
I'll probably use a more powerful module in future builds but this will mostly just be for testing purposes.

actually a lot could go wrong, 50mw of green power is no joke, it could easily blind someone.

Safety goggles for the wavelength laser you are using are recommended for any laser over 5mw. Many, many factors can affect how stable you are and how much control you actually have.

Perhaps becoming proficient at both lasers and RC first, would be wise

That's actually a great plan. I might start out with 5mW for testing, until I really know what I'm doing. I'm going to be building a quadcopter soon, which I will later upgrade to a hexacopter and then an octocopter, so it should easily be able to hold a module in a large custom heatsink and a huge battery to power everything. I wonder what I could do with a flying 3W 9mm 445...

You could find your a$$ in jail! Public demonstration of lasers is illegal. And, you're talking about attaching retina-searing lasers to an unstable, flying platform....

I'm not going to trash your rep yet...Hopefully you will actually READ all of the stickies regarding safety, legal issues, etc.

If you continue along this path, you will piss off a great deal of members here...

I'm not going to fly it around in public with that on it... Just for use in my own house.
EDIT: I do have safety glasses
The 5mW's I'll probably play around with outside though

But ...this is in your sig........

"PM me if you're interested: I may be building RC planes/quadcopters with built in lasers in the future, and might put them up for sale"

What I see here is people advising you not to do this, not because they don't want you to do something cool...or fun, but don't want a potential tragedy to happen to you....or someone else (or both).

Read the Laser safety section of the forum, and look what happens when the eye is hit with an accidental beam.

Listen to what they are saying, because most of us has seen ideas like this before, it rarely ends well.

I am fully aware of what it would do to the eye. I'm sure most people on here would too... I'll remove that from my sig I guess. Does selling them with 5mW default and being able to request higher powers sound reasonable, or should I not sell higher powers at all?\

EDIT: I do understand where everyone is coming from, which is why I was going to start with lower power powers and not sell anything until I'm proficient in building lasers and RC. I may bring this up later in the future when I have some builds finished and I feel comfortable with making and using them, but just as an example to see what people think about them.
